Refugees

Refugees from Eritrea or Sudan, smuggled against a handsome payout by Bedouin handlers from Egypt into Israel, just picked up by an Israeli army patrol at the Philadelphia Route. Unlike in Egypt, they are not being shot at, but after a short interrogation released into the care of social services, or into a vacuum in Beer Sheva, depends on the day and their luck. Israeli administration is not yet used to refugees and nobody knows what to do, although by now there are some 5,000 refugees from Sudan living in Israel.

Philadelphia Route

The guide points to the two parallel roads along the Egyptian-Israeli border. The nearer one is on the Israeli side. This part of the Sinai border is called the Philadelphia Route, but it is the quiet section. What you hear about in the news is the section further east, along the border between Gaza and Egypt.

Mt. Sodom - Dead Sea

Mt. Sodom, on the shores of the Dead Sea. Under the dirt this mountain is actually composed of salt. The long piece seemingly breaking off the mountain on the right is said to be the pillar of salt, into which Lot's wife was turned when she looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah going up in flames.
In the summer it is the closest you'll get to hell in your life time, in the winter it is actually a lot nicer than I suggest here ;-)
It is actually not an HDR, just all of the tonal range put into the sky and a little into the rocks, no middle range left.
