I used to do some collecting a while back. And I did have tons of tapes back in the day. Now, its all just mp3s and files. I know a lot has changed in the way I consume my music: I've leaned towards convenience and portability than stacks of records and tapes. I do miss holding something tangible. Seeing an artwork in full 12x12, is very different from just looking at a digital sleeve. Hearing that cracking and saturated sound coming off a vinyl player just makes me melt.

I am glad though that an event such as Record Store Day, keeps that tangible appreciation for music alive for current and future fans.

A few weeks ago I had the oppurtunity to shoot emerging LA-band, The Guillotines. It was a fun morning hanging out with the girls and also walking around one of my favorite neighborhoods in LA: Silverlake.
