Knuckle Pot Pie is a baker. And he's mean. And he bakes a mean POUND cake. Blam! He was named after his grandpappy, Knuckle Sandwich. You might know him.
I made Knuckle Pot Pie as a surprise for someone very special (who I am pretty sure is not a flickr convert yet). This is the gift tag...

This one is for a special preemie too. I realize I am becoming, like, THE ILLUSTRATOR for the Preemie All Stars but surely there are worse things I could be, and I am proud of it anyway. I have to draw a ladder truck too, which I think I have never done. I'm trying to psych myself up for it.
P.S. it was all I could do to not include a doggie going tinkle on this fire hydrant. I really wanted to. But I was good, and didn't.

I've been asked to draw a flying pig for a special preemie! I was actually asked to draw a pink flying pig on a background of cloudy blue sky, and that is coming, but tonight I did the black-on-white line drawing part of it and thought, hmmm. I should invert this and see how it works as neonatal art.
What do you think?

We have many squirrels (and deer and mice and foxes and skunks and raccoons and chipmunks and bunny rabbits) here. They eat my dogwood berries but nobody is touching the cherries from the weeping cherry tree (except my toddler who is always told no no no). I wouldda thought the cherries would be a big bonus for some critter.

Earlier this week I was feeling kind-of down and asked some friends for any little bit of good news, and they all had something. It was nice.
My little bit of good news is... uh... it's one week until our big NICU benefit! And this little bug is headed there too. I wasn't sure how we were going to pull it all off with day jobs and a toddler but so far we're in good shape.

This is a good shot of the fabric. Knuckle Pot Pie is actually pretty plush... and that plush fabric was found, without a single blemish or stain, in a furniture store's rubbish pile on Main Street in Manayunk, years ago, when I used to be able to go to places like Manayunk and peruse the finest of rubbish piles.

Angels We Have Heard Go Toot

My first "team craft" with my daughter Maya! We made these cardboard and paper angels on her 2nd birthday. I gave her lots of fancy paper and crayons, and while she scribbled and discussed color and design with herself I cut an empty paper towel tube in three, made angel wings and angel faces, and then when she was ready I assembled everything.

I hope I get to save them forever and ever and ever but if not, we have this photo. :)

When I handed her the finished angels she blew musically into them like any good child blows into a paper towel tube. Toot toot.

P.S. there are two hunks of delicious cheese on the right of this photo. We don't celebrate Christmas exactly. We celebrate Cheesemas.
