A very eclectic shop entryway in downtown Roanoke.

I needed about a 1/10th second exposure here but the Yashica A has speeds down to only 1/25th (more like 1/20th on mine). The solution? Expose twice at 1/25th!

So, out shooting around Grandin Village and I'll be darned if this guy didn't come walking around the corner. Not what you expect to see often, though perhaps it's not unusual around Grandin Village.

A moment or two of uncoordinated bluster and almost without thinking, I'm asking if he minds me taking a photo of him. "No" he says, and strikes a suitably musical pose.

"Ka-Chunk" goes the F-1, I wind on and thank him. We head off on our separate artistic ways. I could get the hang of this street portraiture thing, perhaps.

As this skater kid whizzed by us I hoisted the camera to my eye, focused very roughly and took this shot.

Was in manual mode and didn't have time to adjust the shutter speed so I was overexposed by probably 2 stops, luckily the film's latitude saved me. It couldn't help my focusing much, but I figured an interesting shot with technical flaws is better than a boring shot exposed and focused perfectly.

So Kelli was fiddling with her camera by the river in Wasena Park and I thought the river would make a very pleasing out of focus backdrop to a quick portrait.

Like some sort of man-made metal plant, this pipe rises out of the wild grasses near the river. It was the only man-made object visible in this direction.
