20 miles of cycling and the M25 London Orbital motorway crosses NCN Route One near Dartford - always feels like a border and the beginning of Kent proper. Took me 2hrs 30min to get this far (I know - But I was not in a rush!)

The structure in the distance is the huge gate that shuts off the mouth of Crayford Creek, where it meets the River Thames

I know 30 miles is not hugely impressive ( I did 40 in one day aged about 12) but I have resolved to ride more often and set myself some longer routes to get a bit fitter. And hopefully see and photograph some new and interesting places along the way

Situated on the riverside, next to the Millennium Dome (or O2 as we now call it) this is one of the David Dudgeon Mileposts on the National Cycle Network, put up by Sustrans to mark the routes. (See here for more information.) My journey down river, following route one, starts here.

Been lazy for a few weeks now and not had the bike out. With the weather as it is at the moment, there was no reason not to ride, so out I went. Aching now as punishment for my sloth.

Found this neat film effect in the sub-menus of Paintshop Pro, which suggested the title - For film sprockets in a camera, chain sprockets on the bike - and for the Captain's dog (?)

A bit bigger
