Docked on the south quay of Funchal Harbour, the impressive 112.80m (370.08ft) long private Motor Yacht Le Grand Bleu.

Madeira is a popular port for many luxury Mega yachts repositioning, you usually find them tied up in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

The look out point at Quinta do Furão, in Santana on the North Coast of Madeira Island.

A fabulous clear day, with the island of Porto Santo a stones throw on the horizon.
The nautical distance between the islands is 22 nm (nautical miles) which translates into 40.7 kms or 25.3 m (land/statute) miles

Madeira's rocky seafloor doesn't allow for clear aquamarine, but we do have clear 'bondi blue', the colour named by Apple after the water at Bondi Beach in Australia, and used it for the original iMac...

A unusual view of Ilhéu do Farol, on the most easterly point of Madeira at the tip of Ponta de São Lourenço with Porto Santo on the horizon.

This North Easterly perspective does not show the the 'big island', and you can clearly make out the distance between the two islands (50 Kms - 30 nm ).

This stretch of water between the islands is locally called the 'travessa', the gulf stream runs in a north to south direction and depths can reach up to 2.800 m.

The usual gathering of ships in Funchal bay as the warm sun sets, ready for the New Year's Fireworks display.

You can see Saga Pearl II, Aida Bella and Queen Elizabeth in Funchal roads, as the port was full. The smaller ships are sand dredgers, locally known as Areeiros, anchored in the bay and used as fireworks deployment stations.

Approaching Cabo Girão along the south coast of Madeira Island.

Cabo Girão is the sixth highest sea cliff in Europe rising up to 589 metres (1,932 ft) above sea level.

About the same height as he 151 Incheon Tower, Songdo International City, Incheon, South Korea, still under construction which will be 151 stories high.
