I'm tired of the cold and the snow and the darkness... But, I have a lot of shots from 2009 that is just waiting to get pulled out of Lightroom. This one was shot on a trip to Kristiansand in the south of Norway.

The sun is rising further and further to the south, that means the area around Oslo is more and more exposed to the morning sunlight. I took a little detour on the way to work one day last week hoping to catch some cool shots of Dyna Fyr, this is one of the results :))

Stormy Foam

The weather in this season change a lot, wind, rain, clouds and sun rewards us with a fine experience but it is beginning to getcold in the evening. Took Ludo, my Alaskan Husky, to a fine dog walking area, meaning no other dogs to worry about.

The sunset was fine, the wind produced this funny foam, just about right for a foreground object :))

The guys on work

Me and some of the guys from the Twitter Photochallenge went out to one of the islands in the Oslo fjord tonight.

About:
The sunset was amazing tonight, the sky stayed yellow for a long time :)) More of the normal "mortenprom photos" will be posted soon :))

This was shot with the 70-200mm lens in between my own shots at the sunset with the familiar Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens. Those two was so concentrated and looked so fine against the sky :)) A little cropping was done and the usual enhancements in Lightroom, nothing else :))

This was shot on a photo walk together with 10 other members in the Twitter Photochallenge group. This time we spent a couple of hours on Huk/Bygdøy. Unfortunately it started to rain.... no sign of any sunset colors :(

The assignment this week in Twitter Photochallenge is Self Portrait.

About:
The challenge this week is "Self Portrait". There are already many good contributions in the Twitter Photochallenge pool, so I had to do a little extra manipulation to make something new :))
This was shot with at very wide angle with two flashes. The inspiration for this creation comes from Josh Sommers, who creates the most amazing manipulations.

The big blue eye is my own, just slightly altered :)) I pulled the shot through all kinds of processing in Lightrrom and Photoshop, I do not look like this in real life :))

I used the warp tool to distort my face out of proportion. I took a separate photo of my eye wide open. I enlarged the eye using the OnOne fractal plugin for Photoshop, enhancing the colors and sharpened the structures. I cloned the pupil away and placed it underneath the warped face layer in Photoshop. Carefully I masked the original eye away and worked quite a long time one the edges. Very funny work :))

This was shot just before this one in Kristiansand some 30 minutes before sunrise :))

I like the texture on the rocks on this place, you can really see how the ice has worked on the rocks :)
That is of course the scientific explanation, but if you listen to the old fishermen in this area, they will tell you a different story:
Long ago Thor battled against the giant Jötnar. It was a vicious war that set marks on the earth as we know it. These marks you see in this shot, was carved into the stone then Thor dragged the Jötnar he had killed into the ocean to feed Jörmungandr, a huge sea serpent.
Today all the Jötnar are gone, now we only have the smaller Trolls in various shapes around :))

The assignment this week in Twitter Photochallenge is Landscape.

About:
This is a shot at the moon on the nudist beach on Huk, Bygdøy, Oslo, Norway. They have a fine sense of humor on that nudist beach as you can see on the sign :) I prefer going there at night when all the nudies are gone :)
The moonlight gives you the opportunity to shoot at a very long shutterspeed, here 4 minutes, and it gives the landscape a strange mood :))

In the summer the Oslo Fjord is filled with small boats cruising and livin' la vida loca :)) All around Oslo on every little island, you'll find these mooring places where you can tie your boat and enter land to rest or picnic :))

This is shot on the fantastic west side of the Nessodden peninsula. Moving very close to objects like this with my Sigma 10-20mm lens gives this great effect, hope you like it :)

The challenge this week in Twitter Photochallenge is "Silhouette". I went out to one of my favorite spots with my Alaskan Husky and started chasing silhouettes. This is my first attempt :)
I used my beloved 10 stop ND filter to get this surreal look where the water is all frozen :))

Went out this morning to Hvalstrand along the Oslo Fjord, where there is a lot of activity in the summer. The Sun rises nicely above Oslo in the distant horizon. This diving tower is almost as famous as the Opera in Oslo, many photo has been taken at this place. This is my try at this motif :))

This was shot with the B+W 10 stop ND filter, to give those clouds and the water the silky smooth touch :)

Finally I went to the roof of Norway, the place where all those great Norse mythology stories were born :) My and some friends stayed at the Spiterstulen mountain lodge/hotel. It is a great starting point if you want to climb the highest mountains in Norway. On Saturday we climbed Galdhøpiggen, the highest mountain of the all :))

This is a shot of the old Fornebu airport close to Oslo. It is now an Industry park with a nice glow at night :))

I had quite some time to enjoy the night while I waited the 8 minutes it took to shot this one. It was full moon this night, but you'll still see some startrails in the sky :))
