100 Strangers #95 Kate

As we walked around enjoying all the sensory inputs of "Farmers Market" in Whitefish, Montana we spotted Kate. First she is tall and graceful. Secondly she is dressed totally different from everyone else.
Finally the red hair is just like a beacon.

She was eating and talking with 3 or 4 other young folks when I ask if I couls add her to my strangers collection.She was great at posing and seemed a natural.

Kate has lived in Whitefish for 4 years and is a dancer.

While at an Arkansas Strobist Meet up last Saturday Elle' was the mother of one of the models. She was very proud of her daughter and with good cause.

My wife and I went to Houston TX for Valentine's day. While visiting at her cousins home we were offered some grapefruit from a tree in the back yard. One of the grapefruit has a passenger. This is the mug shot!

While strolling around the various booths at the "Farmers Market" in Whitefish, Montana. I spotted Jack here. He is dressed a bit unusual with that bear claw necklace so it became imperative that he join the 100 Strangers project. He was very cooperative. Good luck Jack.

In addition to the drywall business it seems that Jack has an unusual second job as a trick roper. Look at his website.

Our tour moved on to the ski resort town of Whitefish, Montana.

We arrived on Tuesday afternoon just in time for the "Farmers Market" in downtown Whitefish. It was a most ecclectic blend of booths and stalls featuring everyting from vegetables to cooked food to musicians to photos for sale.

This dark complected beauty is Venecia. She was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Montreal at some point. Eventually she moved to Western Canada and met a man that was originally from Whitefish. They were married and had only been back in Whitefish a short time.

Venecia is a budding photographer and this was her first day to set up a table and attempt to sell her prints.

She was just as friendly as her big smile suggests and was a delight to get to photograph and talk with. Coming back by later I was able to meet her husband. They were both very nice people. Good Luck to them both.

We arrived on Sunday night to Helena, Montana and were whisked off to The Kleffner Ranch . Ending that day there was a Wild West Show. The man that organized the weekend was Tom. When I spotted him it became imperative that I add him to my 100 Strangers project.

Tom has lived in Helena for 15 years and when ask what else he did other than organize the event his answer was "Troublemaker".
The lady with him shook her head in agreement.

While visiting The Kleffner Ranch near Helena, Montana we were served a meal of chicken, steak, or pork cooked in large kettles of boiling oil. The meat was skewered onto pitchforks and was billed as "Pitchfork Fondue". It was quite a presentation. Dan here was one of the cooks and has lived in Helena all of his life. Dan has the look of a typical Montana cowboy.

Somehow in my rush to post my strangers photos I managed to skip #71. So we will drop back and add that image number.

Dennis and his lovely wife Stacy are the current owners of The Kleffner Ranch near Helena, Montana. They purchased this ranch and moved here from Arizona 4 years ago. They call the Kleffner Ranch a destination ranch that hosts all types of events. There were still some remains of a Wild West show that was held the weekend before our arrival.

Our tour included a stop over at the ranch for a meal that was billed as "Pitchfork Fondue".

Both Dennis and Stacy were in attendance as were some other interesting folks you will see here as we post a few more strangers.

Traveling to Montana we had a two hour layover in Minneapolis. Then the plane was another hour late. While spending the time we spotted Amy and ask her if we could shoot her for the Strangers project.

Amy is a R.N from Columbus, Ohio and was headed to Great Falls, Montana for a job interview.

This one is straight from the camera so that perfect skin and those beautiful blue eyes are the was she looked. I think there will be some attentive cowboys if she moves to Montana.

On our final day in Lake City we stopped by the local Chamber Of Commerce. There we met Dawna, the newly appointed director.

Dawna spent some of her early years in Lake City but moved to Seattle and was most recently living in Delta, Colorado..

Her parents now live in Lake City and her mom applied for the Chamber Director job. She spent the entire time telling them how great her daughter would be for the job. When Dawna came to visit her mom informed her that she had a job interview. She got the job. Thanks Dawna for allowing me to take your photo.

This is Gil and from a distance he was an interesting looking fellow. He was walking around the city park in Lake City during the 4th of July celebration. I saw the he and his wife in the crowd only to loose them but later got lucky and ran across them again.

When I as to take his photo his wife said that last year they visited Turkey and loads of the people wanted to take his photo.

I dislike the flash reflection in the glasses and I shot the image three times but each time his wife would speak to him and he would turn toward her. My wife said that Gil had his priorities straight.

This image was taken in January at a Meetup of the Arkansas Strobist on Petit Jean Mtn. I have been looking through older images for shots that might benefit from the Camera Raw conversions and Photoshop action that I have learned since this was shot. What do you think of this one?
