Appallingly exposed by me as I failed to appreciate the brightness of that big blue sky, but since I'm kind of limited on photos I decided to "fix" it (on Flickr in Aviary) and keep it.

There is loads of pretty detail in the streets of Siena that is easily overlooked.

We liked the whole concept of having showers, getting dressed up (well the girls did, not me) eating late and then pretty much just going to bed, that we pretty much kept this routine at home*. Although it's not like we have a great deal of choice owing to how late I get back from work now with cycling.

The missus and I toyed with the idea of putting the girls to bed and sitting outside the tent having a drink, but we were always shattered and so went to bed until the sun and gentle noise of the camp-site woke us up - way better than an alarm clock.

Semi-relevant to the photo at hand.

* As opposed to eating earlier and then doing the whole shower/bath bed thing.

Most people (tourists) seem to drive up there, but for the walkers this was a pleasant sight to be greeted with when you get up to Castagneto Carducci.

Church in Siena

A church (I'm pretty sure - as we'd been in it five years earlier to light a candle). Don't know which one though. I think it's on Via Montanini / Via Banchi di Sopra. Bit difficult to recall these things.

We had one rainy day. Moods were briefly low. This was taken just near the tent. I guess it must have been just after the rainfall. Amazing that even a snail outran the shutter speed required!

Taken on the walk up to Castagneto Carducci.

It was a bit of a trek up, but it was the nearst place of interest. We basically walked all the way up to walk back down again though. Since placing these photos on a map I have also found a much shorter walking route than the one we took - bit late now though.
