Enjoying a sunset in Salto, Uruguay

Back on Flickr for just a short little while, so I decided to go through my backlog and share these photos taken during one of my recent trips to Salto in northern Uruguay. From the swimming pool in my hotel I look out across the river and watch the sun set over the coast of Argentina.

It was early morning, the looming presence of storm clouds was all around. My son Dustin and I were driving north on route 3 in Uruguay's northwest region, just past the city of Salto. Suddenly, the sun broke through the clouds and we spotted these lonely trees up near the top of the hill. Had to stop and try a few shots.

I shot this as the sun was trying to break through the fog. In the original photograph, the colors appeared to be too dark and distracting so I decided to fade them a bit in order to highlight the bench, the flowers and the fence.
