When Dhaka residents want a telephone or TV cable, they just string new wire. Untangling the old wire is just too difficult!

Saint Martin's Island is the one and only coral island located in Bangladesh. Named Narikel Jinjira (Coconut Island) by the locals, the dumbbell shaped St.Martin's has an area of only 8 sq. km. which reduces to about 5 sq. km. and in places from 1-4 meters during high tide.

In Bangladesh many children especially girls from vulnerable groups such as the poorest families, children in disaster prone areas and urban slums not attend school. Mass awareness-raising campaigns of the importance of education within the various community, with encouragement and provisions of incentives for parents needed to enrol their children in mainstream schools.

Abu Huraira reported: One day the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)
appeared before the public that a man came to him and said: Prophet of Allah, (tell me)
what is Iman. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you affirm your faith in
Allah, His angels, His Books, His meeting, His Messengers and that you affirm your faith
in the Resurrection hereafter. He (again) said: Messenger of Allah, (tell me) what does al-Islam signify. He (the Holy Prophet) replied: Al-Islam signifies that you worship Allah
and do not associate anything with Him and you establish obligatory prayer and you pay
the obligatory poor-rate (Zakat) and you observe the fast of Ramadan. He (the inquirer)
again said: Messenger of Allah, what does Al-Ihsan imply? He (the Holy Prophet)
replied: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, and in case you fail to see Him,
then observe prayer (with this idea in your mind) that (at least) He is seeing you.

Many of Jobs that Children in Bangladesh perform are considered "Hazardous" and put their physical and mental development at risk. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed concern that many Bangladeshi children continue to work in five of the worst forms of child labor ,namely welding, auto workshops, road transport, battery recharging and tobacco factories. The committee also raised concerns about the lack of mechanisms to enforce child labour laws or monitor working conditions, and insufficient public awareness about the negative effects of child labour

In Bangladesh the situation of street children is hazardous and precarious. There is sufficient
evidence that working children live in severe poverty condition and their numbers are increasing. The poorest children of different parts of the country migrated to the town, particularly to the metropolitan cities. An overwhelming 55 percent of street children were found in Dhaka. The street children are involved in a wide variety of activities. The most frequently mentioned activities are: collect old papers, cooli/minti, tokai, begging, helper, hawker, shoepolishers, seller of flowers, etc.Only 8 percent children are aware of organizations which provide assistance to street children. Only 6 percent visited such organizations.

A new law in Bangladesh Called Vagrants and Shelterless Persons Act 2011,passed by the parliament on August 25, 2011 has come as a threat to the safety and wellbeing of millions of homeless individuals in Bangladesh.

The law brands homeless people as possible criminals. It also gives law enforcers the authority to pick up any vagabond anytime and furthermore keep them behind bars for up to seven days, both needing no grounds.

What is also dehumanizing is that the proposed new rehab shelters will be built with government funds but operated with the money earned by the homeless confined therein—a kind of legalized form of slavery. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of the country has expressed their concern over the new law and it means to urge on the government for reconsidering it. Human rights organizations in general have called the law a violation of the right to live, human dignity, and personal freedom.
