Before heading back to San Francisco I drove California State Route 4 as far up as you could. There I did a short hike to the shores of Lake Alpine.

Snow

There was still quite a bit of snow, even though it was really warm. As the snow wasn't icy it wasn't that slippery either. Good if you want to go uphill, but a little slow when coming down the hills.

I have had this urge to go cross-country skiing this winter. The weather was really warm and I had too much clothes on.

You could see people go by wearing just T-shirts.

We went to see a film and after that it was already dark. I took a couple of shots almost lying down on snow banks.

Most of the day the weather was a bit gloomy. There was lots of snow on the ground, but it was raining a little constantly. However, in the early evening sun started to break through. In this picture its touching the upper parts of the buildings.

Some parts of the garden surrounding the buildings were geometrically designed. However, as it was winter there was not much growing there. It would be nice to visit this place during summer too.

Mt Shasta has the highest concentration of psychic stores I've seen anywhere. It gives the place an interesting flavor.
