flickr, meet jen, posing for me on a bridge in colmar! she was my hostess in france, and one of my oldest and dearest friends (we both went through a ska phase together).

she's runs a genetics lab by day, retired roller derby jammer by night, amazing cook, inspiring knitter, and reads/watches the most hilarious blend of jane austen and sci-fi that i have to love her on principle. did i mention she has a full back tattoo of a DNA strand? <3

downtown strasbourg during the Christmas season. unexpectedly (and inexplicably) there were loads of neon lights illuminating the beautiful old victorian and belle epoque architecture. strange contrast, but i loved it!

yes, as you can see, on the right is the beautiful cathedral in strasbourg, a wonderful example of blended romanesque and classic gothic architecture, but, like, CHECK OUT THESE REALLY COOL OLD HANDCRAFTED SEWERS!

Though feeding the flying rats is not my idea of a good time, this gentleman was so patient with them. He taught two small children how to stand still and let the pigeons feed from their palms too!

This gentleman was dragged along on a shopping trip and was happy to keep his terrier company on the benches lining the Banhofstrasse. I'm pretty sure he noticed I was shooting him, and smiled.

Shot near the Banhofstrasse in Zurich. These two women were not about to be deterred from an afternoon of shopping. Nor can I blame them (except for the paltry USD exchange rate to the Swiss franc, ouch!).

the garden tucked away behind this alley in the niederdorf was so beautiful at night, despite its less-romantic surroundings. also, no fewer than five drunk tourists stopped in front of my tripod to shoot this scene.
