This was the first keeper from this past weekend that we spent up in the first snow in Yosemite Valley.

I call it 'Yosemite Chapel' because it's at the other end of the meadow from it, but not right next to it, and I don't know what else to call it.

Not the most snow we've ever had in the Yosemite Valley, but the conditions were utterly, incomparably ideal. Mist, fog, snow, shifting clouds, fall color, you-name-it.

Ah, Tuolumne Meadows on Memorial Day weekend. We had heard of possible snow 'dusting', but were quite expecting to be able to hike all over hell and gone.

Taken just by parking on the side of the 120 and pointing the camera north.

This isn't a B&W, in any case, the conditions were just sort of monochromatic.

I almost always avoid shooting the iconic spots anywhere I go, but the sunset at Olmsted was just too great to pass up this time.

Heavily cropped from bottom frame up to get rid of the ubiquitous tree tops that always pop up there.

Still trying to get iconic subjects in non-iconic manners, angles, ways, etc.....

Was trying hard to find some way to get this while the fog was whipping all around and there were two guys, who could clearly see Robin and I set up with tripods, who just walked right up to the tree in the shot and stood under it, shooting it w/iPhones, for about 5 minutes.

I am a patient person.

Just to give an idea of the weather we found waiting for us in very late May, Memorial Day Weekend, when we were expecting green meadows, sun, etc...

This was taken directly across from the Tuolumne Grill parking lot.

Not very romantic, I know, but it is what it is. That, and I need to go rework some of the blues in this shot, I think, esp. up in the storm clouds.

I'm not sure if this has a name or not, because I've shot it in the dead of Winter and there was still water in it, so I don't think it's vernal or seasonal, but it's about two miles from the east entrance, on the south side of 120.

In my eternal quest to get decent shots of non-iconic subjects in Yosemite, I keep coming back to Ribbon Falls and it's exquisite chamber or amphitheater, esp. in Winter.

Tried here just to get the mood of the moment and storm, for sort of a Yosemite-as-Mordor effect.

I love the shot, I think, and Robin, when she saw me processing it in LR4 loved it, but perhaps my monitor is the issue.

There is GINORMOUS chroma and green/blue fringing/banding in this shot, it looks nothing like I see it on my own computer, and I'm done.

I just can't make it look right online
