Japanese studio Daisuke Motogi Architecture presented this armchair for holding and hiding things at DesignTide Tokyo 2010 earlier this week.

Items can be stored by wedging them into slots between the upholstered cubes that form the seat.

Tapi by Australian company Dreamfarm turns your ordinary faucet into a fun drinking fountain without disturbing the normal flow of water. Simply press the bottom of Tapi to change the flow of water. I bet this would be a big hit with kids.

Israeli designer Nir Meiri has recently completed a project called 2 Stools. Made of wood and leather, this bench/table has two removable inserts that then become stools for extra seating. The bench is a limited edition of 7 and currently being exhibited at Paradigma Gallery in Tel-Aviv.

Currently showing in the windows at Selfridges in London is a set of sculptures by Kyle Bean, based on the scientific law of conservation of energy...

Bean has drawn on the scientific theory – which states that 'matter cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed' – to create five works for Selfridges. Each consists of a set of giant hanging scales on which two items are placed. One is an object in its original form, the other a transformed version of it. The scales then prove that the objects are still of equal weight, and thus still essentially the same.

When fairy tale meets furniture, this is what results! Cinderella’s Chair by Anna Ter Haar is a project in which regular chairs are fitted with custom blown glass, like their very own glass slippers (or glass prosthetic legs). Surprisingly, they’re stable enough for people to sit on.

Garudio Studiage udstiller i BOX
Til årets sidste udstilling har vi inviteret det engelske design- og kunstnerkollektiv Garudio Studiage til at installere et stykke af deres skæve univers af flade kæledyr, fastfood-håndtasker og højhus-kasketter i BOX.

Fra deres base i Peckham skubber det kreative kollektiv med det underlige navn til grænserne på Londons kreative scene, når de kombinerer design, kunst og mode med humor og ironi.
De fire medlemmer Chris Ratcliffe, Laura Cave, Anna Walsh og Hannah Havana har hver for sig specialiseret sig i grafisk design, maleri, smykkedesign og eksperimenteret med design i mange former. Men Garudio Studiage’s filosofi handler om at samarbejde og blande discipliner, så i fællesskab skaber deres krøllede hjerner og dygtige hænder rekvisitter, produkter, scener og displays til vidunderligt bizarre events og udstillinger.

Den skrupelløst kreative gruppe kaster sig frygtløst ud i projekter om illustrerede dart-skiver og tre-benede ræve med deres helt egen sære men seje stil, og så har de været så venlige at åbne deres egen web-shop, hvor man kan få fingre i deres malerier, t-shirts, smykker og print, der alle er pilskæve - på den gode måde!

Vi glæder os til at se, hvad de tryller frem, og er sikre på, det bliver en anderledes oplevelse! Kom og vær med, når vi åbner udstillingen fredag d. 4. dec. Kl. 16.00 og siger tak for 2009!
