Taken after sunset one evening in summer on Derwent Water. The light was a real probem, even on this long exposure at ISO 800.

The calm represented in this image isn't quite how I remember the evening. My wife's family had all agreed to meet up in Keswick to celebrate my sister-in-law's 21st birthday. After our evening meal we agreed to walk down to Derwent Water, so about 6 of us decended on the shores of the lake armed with various makes and models of SLRs. A flurry of long-exposure photography ensued and for the first time my tripod was seen as a great asset, rather than the cumbersome geek accompaniment it's usually labelled as by the rest of the family.

After I'd wrestled the tripod back this was one of the last shots I took, trying to use the posts as a lead-in.

I would have liked there to be a bit more colour in the sky and I'd have preferred to shoot at ISO 200. There's always next time :-)
