Capturing the Sunset on Bandon Beach

A photographer capturing the beautiful end of the day on Bandon Beach, Oregon. When he turned and saw me, he waved apologetically, thinking that he was blocking my view. Of course that was not the case. We eventually ended up chatting...a nice fellow...and now one of my Flickr contacts.

Okay, here it is...zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Nikon D7000, Nikkor 70-300mm VR.
SOOC. Cropped in CNX2. Probably would benefit from sharpening, but I usually screw up post processing, so only applied crop.
In my stupor, I failed to set up the remote, so resorted to the mirror-up function. Focused using Live View. Couldn't get it any better than this...

I'm going back to bed....

Attended the Hawaii Photo Forums' Firework's Meet at Magic Island. Pleasure seeing the crew as well as meeting some new (to me) folks. 'Twas an enjoyable evening spending time with them and watching the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks show.

Gaudy blue from the camera's 'Vivid' setting. Fooled with this one a bit - sharpened and some shadow work; cropped in Capture NX2.

Located in Bandon, Oregon and currently undergoing renovations. In the foreground is the thorny shrub gorse, Ulex europaeus, considered noxious in Hawaii where it infests many acres of pasture lands on the slopes of Mauna Kea. Pretty to look at when in bloom, you don't want to be anywhere near it. Works better than sago palms. Apparently, it is also classified as a noxious weed in Oregon.

At Bandon Beach, fresh water flows from the bluffs to the sea, creating interesting patterns in the sand. In the background, the sea stacks off of Coquille Point.
