stuttgart_san posted a photo:

Fullmoon. It was a long hike up to this place. Car was down there in the town. Beautiful night landscape on the northern border of the swabian alb. View almost north, direction to stuttgart. Very cold and clear air, I guess about -10C. I did not meet anybody the whole evening - great to be alone in that nature.

Shoot Raw!
It is important to shoot raw. This gives you the possibility to adjust white balance afterwards. Noise is not an issue in the cold air. However, still it is better to turn on the "on camera noise reduction". Most DSLRs have it. The on camera noise reduction, takes a second picture of equal duration with the shutter closed so only noise is recorded. Then the noise is subtracted, leaving the original image with just a hint of noise.

Last full moon of 2008. Perfect conditions. About -6 degree celsius. Crispy clear air. 20% cloud cover and 10 centimeter of snow. The moonlight was so strong that I would swear I got sun taint from it ;) First time to go out since long....

Taken at Birkenkopf, Stuttgart, Germany.

After spending some time out there, you really can see the beautiful blue in the sky even with bare eyes. Especially when you compare it against the polluted light over the city.

More to come... I think I took about 20 shots before my fingers were that much frozen that I couldn't press the shutter anymore.
