The main prayer hall inside the Badshahi (Emperor) Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan.
The Mosque, Lahore's most famous landmark and a major tourist attraction epitomizing the beauty, passion and grandeur of the Mughal era. Built in 1671 by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir. Like the character of its founder, the mosque is bold, vast and majestic in its expression. Its design was inspired by Islamic, Persian and Central Asian influences. The interior of the mosque has rich embellishment in stucco tracery (Manbatkari) and a fresco touch on the ceiling panels, all in bold relief, as well as marble inlay.
The walls and ceilings are beautifully decorated with colourful panels filled with rich hand written calligraphy from The Holy Quran and artistically made floral paintings and carvings. The mosque truly is a wonder of the Mughal Era.

Welcome to Naulakha Pavilion

Emesay posted a photo:

The Naulakha Pavilion (as seen on the left side) is a prominent white marble personal chamber with curvilinear roof. The structure was originally inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones and overlooked the River Ravi. When the pavilion was built in 1633 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it cost around 900,000 rupees, an exorbitant amount at the time. It is called Naulakha because in Urdu language, the word means 'worth 9 lakhs (900,000) rupees'.
This unique feature is symbolic of Shajahani (After the name of a Mughal Emperor) architecture. It reflects a mixture of contemporary traditions of sloping-roof from Bengal, and Baldachin from Europe. This demonstrates the imperial as well as religious image of the subject. The original roof was probably gilded. The inner walls are minutely inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones and silver with delicate parchin kari ornamentation are considered among the finest in the world.Glazed tile mosaics have been used to decorate the spandrels of the arched openings with floral designs and images of angels, genies, and solomonic symbols. The marble screens of the pavilion are crowned with merlons to prevent inmates being seen from the grounds in between the Fort and the river.
I will be posting some more pics from inside later.

One of the antique doors present in Jahangiri Quadrangle in Lahore Fort. It cannot be said with certainty when the Lahore Fort was originally constructed or by whom, since this information is lost to history, possibly forever. However, evidence found in archaeological digs gives strong indications that it was built long before 1025 A.D, however, the existing base structure was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar (1556-1605), and was regularly upgraded by subsequent rulers, having thirteen gates in all. Thus the fort manifests the rich traditions of the entire Mughal architecture.

Emperor's Mosque (Baadshahi Masjid)

An inside view (one of the hallways) of Lahore's most famous landmark and a major tourist attraction epitomising the beauty, passion and grandeur of the Mughal era.
The mosque truly is a wonder of the magnificent Mughal Era.

This is a 300+ year old tree. Its located on GT Road on the way going to Lahore from Rawalpindi. My grandfather used to tell me that he saw the tree in the same condition while he was in his young days. The stem is well over 15 feet in diameter and the beautiful roots are hanging like long snakes. I'll be posting some closer pics soon.
