A trip to Topeka to get a bit of ink, try out some lenses and chat about plans for future "Picture My Kansas" trips was a lot of fun, but there was some disappointments.

The old church on Golden Ave has disappeared and the famous School for Mentally Ill Youth was also levelled. There was this statue in front of Topeka High School which was installed in 2011 which was new to me, but it also had a down side.

Who gave the sculptor permission to use my physique on this statue?!?

I promise - this will be my last oil paint filter as the Photoshop 6 Beta test period expires tomorrow. ;-)

Finishing a major installation today but I couldn't resist playing a bit more with the "Oil Paint" filter in the Photoshop 6 beta. The free beta testing period ends in the next few days and the result is a monstrosity of a perfectly innocent wetlands capture!

I've always had a fascination for this image of an old windmill fan used to bar a door on a long abandoned farm by my birthplace near Lakin, Kansas. Only recently did I discover that I made two visits and had more than one capture. Look close to see the effect here!

I hope that spirit guides the wild things of our land through this time of strain from the intense heat. Our wetlands area is becoming very dry with the first chance of rain some days away.
