I had just been reading about how the brain can construct motion from intermittent blinks (basically, the foundation of cinema) and was interested in how the moving, blinking fireflies produced an essentially random blinking field. In the photo, it's easy to sort oft the path of individual insects, by eye, it's almost impossible unless they are very close.
