I'm back from tuscany. The weather wasn't the best but we still had a great time.

I noticed this boardwalk right at the shore of the sea in Livorno while we were passing through and we had to stop to take photos. Fortunately right at that moment there was nice light... More shots from this place to follow ;)

When i went to bed at 1am - I was watching the winter olympics - the sky was starry.

When i woke up this morning we had this much snow (we all hoped winter had finally ended...) - what a waste of nature's effort, because now, in the afternoon, it has melted again. The forecast for tomorrow is +12°C

Technique/Processing

Shot at 180mm f/2.8, focused on the lantern to created the nice dof.

Processing in Photoshop: Standard levels adjustment, Cross Processing in Color FX (Preset B2 @ 68% opacity), then added slight vignetting around the man.

Technique/Processing

Shot wide open with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 again. Love the shallow dof it creates on the D700.

Shot on the Times Square, New York. They closed it for traffic a few days before i was there and put a mass of camping chairs onto the street for people to sit in them. It really is a nice contrast between the chaos of New York, especially in the Theatre District and the people sitting there, relaxing.

Straight forward, shot with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 @ f/3.2 and then square-cropped and converted to b/w.

Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 22 acres (89,000 m2) between 48th and 51st streets in New York City. Built by the Rockefeller family, it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning the area between Fifth Avenue and Seventh Avenue. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

The observation deck atop the skyscraper, dubbed "Top of the Rock", reopened to the public on November 1, 2005, after undergoing a $75 million renovation. It had been closed since 1986 to accommodate the renovation of the Rainbow Room. The deck, which is built to resemble the deck of an ocean liner, offers sightseers a bird's eye view of the city, competing with the 86th floor observatory of the Empire State Building.

The "Top of the Rock" had also been co-opted for NBC's Sunday Night Football during the 2006-07 season, with the top player/MVP in that night's game according to John Madden and Al Michaels receiving the honor of being that night's "Rock Star" in the form of a glass trophy display on the observation deck; this was a replacement for the Horse Trailer Award formerly awarded on ABC's Monday Night Football. The Horse Trailer honor was restored for the 2007-08 season.

Technique/Processing:

Shot wide open with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. Shadows lightened a bit and the cross processed with Nik Color Efex. No HDR or DRI (obviously ;))
