Reaching 540ft into the sky behind Liverpool Street station in London, Broadgate Tower is the 4th tallest building in the main financial district known as the city or the square mile.

Sicilian Sunset | Isola delle Femmine

Isola delle Femmine, or Island of Women, is a small town near Palermo on the north coast of Sicily. This small island, which gives the town its name, is now uninhabited. There are conficting stories about its history. Some say it was once a womens prison, while it is also said to have been a refuge for women and children during a plague.

I remember visiting my sister when she first lived in Isola and we were allowed to get off the boat and walk on the island, but it is now a conservation area and closed to the public.

This sunset shot was taken shortly after my previous post of a watch tower on the mainland, a few hundred metres from where I took this.

Lacock Abbey

The cloisters at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. The figure seen through the window is a wire sculpture from an exhibition by Derek Kinzett, which was on at the abbey when we visited.

Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, during the reign of Henry VIII, Lacock Abbey became a private residence and was later the home of William Henry Fox Talbot, one of the pioneers of photography. More recently, it was used as a film location for a couple of the Harry Potter movies.

Another Sicilian sunset from the peninsula at Isola delle Femmine on the same day as my previous post, but aimed at the more colourful part of the sky. To get the best of the sunset and the Isola in the same shot, you have to be on a boat.

A couple of weeks ago, I got to spend a few days on the beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos when I shot a wedding at this hotel. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it. :)

This pole, behind the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin, is so brightly coloured that a colour shot seemed more obvious to me at first. In the end, I preferred this abstract mono version.
