Levanto is the Hidden Gem on the Italian Riviera and the doorway to the Cinque Terre. A town of pre-roman origins, lies at the northern end of the enticing little villages. Levanto literally means the land situated east of Genova. It has a long sandy beach, an interesting old center, many delightful painted villas, a bustling Wednesday market, and good restaurants and shops. Levanto is a real town with a city park where families get together and the children have fun. You can actually even find a laundromat here as well as normal shops not always found in larger touristy locations. It's most picturesque, fun and quaint at the same time, very accessible, and terrific for swimming. Being on the water makes the cliffs more dramatic, the colors more intense, and the water a deeper shade of blue. Enjoying a partcularly mild climate, from here it's easy to visit the fascinating ports of the Cinque Terre, either by train, by sea or hiking.

Beautiful cycle path built on the route of the old coastal railway from Levanto to Bonassola. Along the stretch these young couple can also access to beaches and hidden coves otherwise unreachable except by sea. Among the most loveliest paths there is in Italy. Recommended to all.

Het dorp is omringd door heuvels die zijn bezaaid met wijngaarden en olijfbomen en heeft fantastische stranden, adembenemende riffen en kristalheldere wateren. Leuk en erg gezellig, zeer toegankelijk en geweldig voor zwemmen. Het strand in Levanto wordt in de zomermaanden altijd druk bezocht door Italianen.

I finished my photos of Cinque Terre in Italy. I hope you like my collection. The Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It's a great place to spend the holidays. The Five Lands is composed of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I do not have a favorite village. Each village is different and has its own charm. Trails, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside. It's good to hear my photo's inspired people to visit this place too. It's definitely worth it. Have a look at more photos of Italy. Thanks for all comments and faves.

Zo dit is m'n laatste upload van Cinque Terre. Ik hoop dat jullie een beetje genoten hebben van m'n foto's van dit prachtige gebied. De Cinque Terre bestaat uit vijf dorpjes aan de Italiaanse Riviera. Cinque Terre bestaat uit de volgende dorpen: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola en Riomaggiore. Het gebied is moeilijk bereikbaar met de auto langs de steile kust. Er loopt een wandelpad dat de vijf dorpjes met elkaar verbindt. Ik heb geen favoriet dorp. Elk dorp is immers anders en heeft ze eigen charme. Cinque Terre is een heerlijk plek om de vakantie door te brengen. Leuk te horen dat mijn foto's sommige van jullie inspireert om deze plek ook te gaan bezoeken. Het is zeker de moeite waard. Bekijk hier meer foto's van Italië. A typical Italian family might rent an appartment for two months in a popular seaside. For part of that period, husbands may join the family group only at weekends, remaining at work during the week. The family pets will come along, and so might the grandparents. Half the family's neighbours will also have transplanted themselves to the same resort. In the morning everyone heads to the beach. At lunchtime they will return home to cook up a big family meal just like at home. In the afternoon it's back to the beach again. Swimming is a very popular activity and a way to cool down on a hot summer's day.

The Cinque Terre is a national park made up of five small towns and natural areas that are under protection from development. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and walking from town to town is a popular attraction. Enjoy the charms of North Italy. Riomaggiore dating from the early eight century, is known for its historic character and its wine, produced by the town's vineyards. It's in the Riviera di Levante region and has shoreline on the Mediterranean's Gulf of Genoa, with a small beach and a wharf framed by tower houses. A lovely hike along the Mediterranean coastline takes you through the quaint towns of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. The hike starts from the train station at Riomaggiore. The walk here is called the Via dell’Amore or Lovers’ Way, probably because of the beautiful view from the cliffs overlooking the ocean inspire people to declare their love for each other. This part of the hike is short and easy, about 30 minutes until you reach Manarola.

Manarola is one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre, all connected by trail. The water and mountainside have been declared national parks. The town is situated in a small valley just along the coast. Although no beaches are present in this quaint residential area, travelers and locals alike have fallen in love with the deep water swimming adventures along the sheer cliffs

Ze zijn er eerder 's morgensvroeg om 7 of 8 uur, als de zon nog gezond is, en vertrekken rond de lunch naar een restaurant of naar hun eigen onderkomen. Zo op het einde van de middag komen de Italianen weer naar het strand. Vanaf Manarola loopt een prachtige wandelroute naar Corniglia met uitzicht op schitterende landschappen en het geluid van de golven die breken op de kliffen.

The Italian Riviera, or Ligurian Riviera is famous for its particularly mild climate which, together with the charm of its old fishing ports and the beauty of its landscape. It has made it a popular destination and very popular with Italians. When it comes to the art of living, Italians are masters, and this talent extends to the seaside. The locals—many of them—have headed to the beach. For Italians, the beach holiday is a sacred ritual that takes place each summer. Some families have been going to the same beach club for generations and never consider another spot, others choose their location depending on what's in vogue. Whether they walk for miles to have a wild beach to themselves or pack into tight rows of loungers —eating ice cream or taking long naps under their umbrellas, congregating in groups of friends and family. Italian Riviera does have aquamarine water and ivory sand, a slender patch of pebbles at the edge of a rocky cove can be considered truly great when combined with a working harbor, a medieval fortress, and a tiny restaurant serving the freshest seafood. Yet even the nature reserve beaches are jammed in July and August, while they are blissfully quiet in May, June, September, and early October.

Riomaggiore is het meest oostelijk gelegen dorp van Cinque Terre en het eerste wat u tegenkomt vanuit La Spezia. Gelegen in de vallei van de nu gedempte stroom van de Rivus Maior en gebouwd op verschillende terrassen. Het dorp vindt zijn oorsprong in de 8e eeuw door een groep voortvluchtige Grieken. De huizen zijn geverfd in de typische Ligurische kleuren en hebben het typerende torenhuis kenmerk, dat wil zeggen dat ze hoog gebouwd zijn, met wel drie of vier verdiepingen. De entree van deze huizen is op de begane grond, maar ook aan de achterkant op een van de hogere verdiepingen, dit dankzij het hoogteverschil van de omgeving. In het hoger gelegen deel van het dorp vinden we de parochiekerk van San Giovanni Battista, die gebouwd is in 1340. In Riomaggiore begint de Via dell’Amore, die u naar Manarola leidt, een prachtige wandelroute met uitzicht op schitterende landschappen en het geluid van de golven die breken op de kliffen.

The locals—many of them—have headed to the beach. For Italians, the beach holiday is a sacred ritual that takes place each summer. Some families have been going to the same beach club for generations and never consider another spot, others choose their location depending on what's in vogue. Whether they walk for miles to have a wild beach to themselves or pack into tight rows of loungers —eating ice cream or taking long naps under their umbrellas, congregating in groups of friends and family. Italian Riviera does have aquamarine water and ivory sand, a slender patch of pebbles at the edge of a rocky cove can be considered truly great when combined with a working harbor, a medieval fortress, and a tiny restaurant serving the freshest seafood. Yet even the nature reserve beaches are jammed in July and August, while they are blissfully quiet in May, June, September, and early October.

The beach at Monterosso runs along most of the coast line and is well used by tourists and locals. Like a precious gem strung on a chain of rock hang from high cliffs that tower over the Mediterranean Sea. Monterosso is one of the five villages in Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre have come to be among the most popular areas of Italy among tourists. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all encapsulated in a national park by the same name. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's most picturesque, fun and quaint at the same time, very accessible, and terrific for swimming. Being on the water makes the cliffs more dramatic, the colors more intense, and the water a deeper shade of blue. It’s a very different way to see the five towns. Of the five towns, the largest beaches are found at Monterosso.

Een prachtig pittoreske dorpje, leuk en erg gezellig, zeer toegankelijk en geweldig voor zwemmen. Het strand in Monterosso wordt in de zomermaanden altijd druk bezocht door Italianen. Veel Italiaanse families huren een appartement voor twee maanden in een populaire badplaats. Voor een deel van die periode, komt de man alleen in het weekend, hij blijft werken tijdens de week. De grootouders en buren bezoeken dezelfde plaats. Ze bezoeken het strand 's ochtends vroeg tot ongeveer elf uur. Dan gaat hij naar huis om te lunchen. Na de lunch, rond half vier komt hij het strand weer op. De zon is tussen elf en drie te fel. Zwemmen is een zeer populaire activiteit en een manier om af te koelen op een hete zomerdag.

Venice is a city in northeast Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. It is located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers. Venice is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks.The city in its entirety is listed as World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon. The name is derived from the ancient Veneti people who inhabited the region by the 10th century B.C.Venice has decayed since its heyday and is heavily touristed ,there are slightly more tourists than residents, but the romantic charm remains. Venice, the world's only pedestrian city, is easily walkable, and the absence of cars makes this a particularly pleasant experience. However, walking and standing all day can also be exhausting, so it is best to pace yourself. The best way to get around a bit more quickly by numerous vaporetti water buses and water taxis. If you want to have a romantic ride along the canals, take a gondola ride.

Venice has always been a mecca for the Street Performer. This wonderful cello player blessed every passerby with beautiful, free, live music as they walked in the old centre of Venice. Nice guy. I thought he was so great. At least the best improvising cellist I've ever heard on the streets. His name is Peter Lewy and please listen to his Solo Cello CD. It is a mix of original pieces and improvisations.

Lijnbussen, taxi's en ziekenwagens zijn in Venetië boten die zich al even ordeloos verplaatsen als de auto's in de grote Italiaanse steden. Venetië zelf bestaat uit 120 eilanden met elkaar verbonden door 150 kanalen en 400 bruggen.Het is de combinatie van zijn culturele en architecturale rijkdom met de unieke ligging die Venetië zo populair maakt bij de toeristen. Een wandeling door de vele kleine straatjes doet je écht kennismaken met de levenswijze van de Venetianen.
