Toscolano-Maderno is a town and comune on the West coast of Lake Garda. Toscolano Maderno extends on two big bands, with the main inhabitated parts near the lake and the hamlets on the hills. Toscolano and Maderno are two different towns. The first one has an industrial nature, the second one is dedicated to tourism; they grew divided by a small bridge on detritus of the torrent Toscolano. They were re-united in one town in 1928. Particularly, Toscolano has Roman origin, testified from the ruins of a big villa, of which parts of the mosaic pavement can be seen. The parish church of Toscolano, founded in 1571. Where now the parish church rises, there was a castle with four towers, one of which is now the bell tower of the church. The territory is dominated by peaks of Mount Pizzocolo -1582 m and Mount Castell di Gaino - 866 m: both afford breathtaking views. The particularly mild climate, even in winter, makes this a marvelous vacation spot. Along the shore there are many camping sites and hotels to suit any need, and delicious local dishes are served in the characteristic restaurants and bars.

Located in a beautiful, sunny spot on the Toscolano River delta, the town of Toscolano Maderno is an important historical and economic center of the Riviera dei Limoni e dei Castelli. This area is full of beautiful scenery like this beautiful house made like a castle. The beautiful shaded garden offers places to relax especially under the marvelous trees of the park.

In the beginning of the previous century, Casoli - Tuscany was a village with more than 500 inhabitants, but a century of migration is not without consequences: today there are only 40 souls living in the village. Casoli is a very nice place, a world apart from the city, and especially for the inhabitants of the all too busy and boisterous cities in the North, it is a wonderful heaven of rest. Despite the fact that it is a very beautiful and picturesque mountain village, wonderfully authentic in the middle of the Tuscan hills, you will not find Casoli in any tourist guidebook. That is because none of the Tuscan highlights are to be seen here Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and the likes have never been here. But, the great advantage of their absence is a total lack of any tourist or commercial fuss. If you would like to visit an authentic Tuscan village, in beautiful surroundings, and yet not totally isolated, Casoli is the place to be. Go out for a walk in the village, walk through the wooded hills to the neighbouring village (6 km), have a look at the small lake, let the local people show you the tracks of wild boars and the places to look for the precious funghi. Hiking is also possible. Down the hill flows the Lima, a lovely river, and a real paradise for fishermen and above all enjoy the unpretentious generous hospitality of the people of Casoli. I hope you like my collection of the other Tuscany. Thanks for all comments and faves.
We drive on the glorious wine roads of Tuscany. Grapes and olives require similar climatic and soil conditions and share coinciding harvest times, making them a natural pair in the fields. Long-term agricultural biodiversity appeals to vineyard owners, who realize that economic and seasonal variables, as well as consumer taste, make production of more than one quality product a proactive approach. Additionally, olive groves protect vineyards against strong winds, acting as windbreaks. We visit the farms and cellars and ofcourse taste the great Chianti wine. Discover the most celebrated region of Tuscany. The vineyards of this area produce one of the best wines in the world: Chianti Classico. This Wine represents a major source of wealth for the Chianti area, no wonder then that this product has been particularly looked after and protected, in order to distinguish its quality from other wine productions. I hope you like my collection of Tuscant. Thanks for all comments and faves.

The Apuan Alps are a mountain range located in northern Tuscany, between the rivers Magra and Serchio. The adjective Apuan comes from the fact that in ancient times were inhabited by Ligurian Apuani. The Apuane Alps are one of the most original relief areas in Italy, for the variety of landscape and environments. Colonnata is located in the Apuan Alps. The history dates back to its settlement, around 40 BC. It was built for the housing of slaves used in quarrying marble after Rome decided to replace expensive imported Greek marble with local marble. Also later Michelangelo came here amd used the marble for his famous images. Now the precious marble is imported worldwide. There is no better and more beautiful marble. In the 1963 Dell’Amico Carlo used the Marmifera Tunnel. It was an old train used for transporting marble blocks. He was the pioneer of this style of quarrying in the heart of the mountain. He has been able to develop in the centre of the mountain huge rooms, calculated in 24 thousand cubic meters, held by columns. This place leaves the tourist breathless. The setting is almost lunar in appearance, you loose the sense of proportion and time stops. In the morning the quarrymen extract marble blocks, in the afternoon the tourists have the opportunity to visit the Quarry.

Travelling along winding and steep roads together with trucks transporting the marble from the mines. The famous marble of Carrara has been quarried since Roman times and has long been a favorite of sculptors, including Michelangelo. The first section of approximately 600 meters will be conducted from the confines of the tour bus. Once inside the Ravaccione Quarry, you will be talked through the processes of cutting and pulling of the marble blocks. The setting is almost lunar in appearance and the quarry is known as the Marble Cathedral due to its vast and cavernous rooms. The most beautiful quarry carved deep into the mountain.

The famous marble of Carrara has been quarried since Roman times and has long been a favorite of sculptors, including Michelangelo. Fantiscritti Marble Quarries and the cave gives visitors a chance to get an inside look at the quarries and also includes a fantastic view from high above them. On the ride back down we saw the site where several Austin Martin's went over the cliff during the filming of the James Bond movie, Quantum Solace. A well worth drive and visit at the impressive marble cave. From left to right: BieJee, Samantha, mother-in-law Bunrod, and Kanitha.

Fantiscritti Marble Quarries and the cave gives visitors a chance to get an inside look at the quarries and also includes a fantastic view from high above them. From the little square in Colonnata the road winds up, the trail is smooth and wide, shaded by chestnut trees, very pleasant. We will take the right path No.38 and marked with red and white. From now on you will walk through woods and marble fields, to Vergheto. A village which was once inhabited by quarrymen, most of the houses are abandoned. From here you can enjoy a very suggestive panorama of the surrounding mountains and of massa's marble basins. In total we spent 2 ½ hours / 3 hours walking with a quiet step. From here you could continue to Monte Sagro and the Rifugio Monte Carrara.

Colonnata at 532 m above sea level is an ancient village. It is situated in the Apuan Alps. It seems everyday is laundry day in Italy. Such type of rotary clothes line or washing line can be seen all around Italy. The best part of hanging the laundry outside is the smell and the feel of sun warmed clothes and it will save you money too.

Travelling along winding and steep roads together with trucks transporting the marble from the mines. The famous marble of Carrara has been quarried since Roman times and has long been a favorite of sculptors, including Michelangelo. Fantiscritti Marble Quarries and the cave gives visitors a chance to get an inside look at the quarries and also includes a fantastic view from high above them.

The mountain village Vergheto is located in the Apuan Alps near mounts Maggiore, Spallone and Sagro.

The famous marble of Carrara has been quarried since Roman times and has long been a favorite of sculptors, including Michelangelo. Fantiscritti Marble Quarries and the cave gives visitors a chance to get an inside look at the quarries and also includes a fantastic view from high above them.

We had a wonderful stay in Casoli. Situated in a small Italian village on a mountain. Parking can be done in front of the church of Casoli. You can only walk in Casoli cause the roads are much too small for cars. There is a supermarket at the local bar at the start of Casoli. The house Casa Bressan where we stayed is a typical old Italian house but totally renovated. It has a kitchen, living and dining area, bathrooms and four bedrooms. You can enjoy the private patio with garden furniture. It's a lovely place to spend your holidays. The summer evenings are cool in this mountainous area. You have a beautiful view on the green and steep mountains. The owner can speak good English. The people in this little town are friendly and makes you feel right at home. A place with a real Italian atmosphere. The beach can be reached by a half hour drive. We really enjoyed our stay in this typical and beautiful village Casoli. Excellent place to stay if you want to learn about the Italian culture and live their way.

Casoli is located to the northwest of Florence, 500 meters above sealevel. We stayed in this little town at Casa Bressan - Casoli no. 122. We had a pleasant and comfortable stay. A photo of our beautiful view from my bath on the pristine mountains of Casoli. A bathroom with a view and blessed by mother Maria.

The morning 10th of Februari I woke up to see Amsterdam covered in a coat of fresh snow. The snow fell in sudden flurries and gusts and turned the world white and wonderful. With the canals in the city and occasional high winds, there can be a nip in the air, but packing gloves and a scarf should keep you warm enough. There is something very beautiful about Amsterdam in the winter. The virgin white carpet of snow is crunching under my shoes. I began to remember why I love the winters so much. After the snow blizzard of last night in Amsterdam the weather cleared up dramatically and we were treated to bright blue skies and lot of sunshine. I walk in my neighbourhood and made some beautiful photos of the snow. I made a mosaic of my best. I hope you'll like them. Thanks for your visits, comments and faves.
The snow fell in sudden flurries and gusts and turned the world white and wonderful. With the canals in the city and occasional high winds, there can be a nip in the air, but packing gloves and a scarf should keep you warm enough. There is something very beautiful about Amsterdam in the winter. It does occasionally snow in Amsterdam in February, but that almost always means just a light dusting. I walk in my neighbourhood and made some photos of the snow. When it snows the light and atmosphere is really beautiful. The steep bridges over the canals in Amsterdam are really slippery, especially for cars. The best way to travel in the snow is by bicycle, tram, walking or better by sleds. Who knows times of Hendrick Avercamp are coming back this year. Avercamp was the first Dutch artist to specialize in paintings of winter landscapes featuring people enjoying the ice. Some 400 years on, our image of life in the harsh winters of the Golden Age is still dominated by Avercamp’s ice scenes with their splendid narrative details of couples skating, children pelting each other with snowballs and unwary individuals falling through the ice.

After the snow blizzard of last night in Amsterdam the weather cleared up dramatically and we were treated to bright blue skies and lot of sunshine. This morning I walk in my neighbourhood and made some beautiful photos of the snow. The virgin white carpet of snow is crunching under my shoes. I began to remember why I love the winters so much. This time around, the canals remained relatively ice-free and there was lots of snow. The temperature is cold outside but its warm and cosy inside these houseboats. Yesterday we had more snow. Sneeuwballen gevecht, sneeuwpoppen maken of sleetje rijden.

The temperature is cold outside but its warm and cosy inside these houseboats. Yesterday we had more snow. Photo taken at the Keizersgracht. In the background you can you see the Posthoorn church build in 1860.

Sneeuwballen gevecht, sneeuwpoppen maken of sleetje rijden.

It does occasionally snow in Amsterdam in February, but that almost always means just a light dusting. I walk in my neighbourhood and made some photos of the snow. When it snows the light and atmosphere is really beautiful. The steep bridges over the canals in Amsterdam are really slippery. Some of the finest and expensive examples of houseboats can be seen along the canals of Amsterdam, which even has houseboat hotels. Houseboats are very expensive nowadays in Amsterdam because of the limited number of moorings; this expense has reduced the likelihood that the approximately 2,400 families that live on the inner waters of Amsterdam will find themselves confronted by new neighbor boats. Amsterdam sure does look gezellig. So bundle up, go outside and play in the snow! Need a place to play? Visit the canals at the Jordaan, it's looks gorgeous in the snow. Walk around the Jordaan district and enjoy.

After the snow blizzard of last night in Amsterdam the weather cleared up dramatically and we were treated to bright blue skies and lot of sunshine. This morning I walk in my neighbourhood and made some photos of the snow. The virgin white carpet of snow is crunching under my shoes. I began to remember why I love the winters so much. This time around, the canals remained relatively ice-free and there was lots of snow. The temperature is cold outside but its warm and cosy inside these houseboats. More snow expected tomorrow. Photo taken at the Prinsengracht, on the background you can you see the Westertoren church build in 1620.

Sneeuwballen gevecht, sneeuwpoppen maken of sleetje rijden.
