The luminous environment, temperate climate, and flourishing vegetation - mainly olive and lemon groves, palms, cypresses, oleanders and orange trees - along with the majestic landscapes are the background to the remarkable historical and cultural remains spread all around and make this lake the most charming in Italy. Given the intense colour of its water with a marked shade of blue and matchless transparency, Due to its natural beauty, impressive scenery and reliable thermal winds, Lake Garda is one of the most popular windsurfing spots in Europe. It is the perfect place for surfers, from beginners to pros. Also Lake Garda has been appealing to divers. Scuba diving to the bottom of Lake Garda, which is 346 metres deep. One of Europe's clearest and mysterious underwater world to discover an ancient treasure.

Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in Northern Italy. Lake Garda diving is not something you really take a whole lot of notice of at first, because there is so much else happening on the lake. The fact that there is a dozen or so diving centres though proves that it is actually quite a popular sport. Snorkelling can also be a lot of fun and the clear water gives you great views of the lake bed. There are numerous fish species in the various periods of the year, freshwater prawns and a varied flora. A number of treasures from different periods can be found on the bed of the lake, ranging from Venetian galleys, which are the remains of the long period of domination of the Republic of Venice in the area, to the warship.

Het Gardameer is het grootste én schoonste meer van Italië. Gelegen in een prachtig landschap met bergen en stranden, schilderachtige stadjes als Sirmione, Peschiera en Lazise, en tal van bezienswaardigheden. Het azuurblauwe water van het Torri del Benato is ideaal voor windsurfen en andere watersporten. De omgeving is perfect voor bergwandelen. Rond het Gardameer bevinden zich talloze leuke vakantieplaatsen, van klein tot groot en van idyllisch tot zeer toeristisch. In deze plaatsen kun je slenteren door kronkelende steegjes met leuke winkeltjes en restaurantjes, flaneren langs de oever. Op sommige plaatsen kun je direct duiken in het meer. Duiken in het Gardameer is een sport die de laatste jaren flink in belangstelling groeit. Het aantal duikscholen en mogelijkheden om te duiken bij het meer nemen steeds meer in aantal toe. Er valt blijkbaar ook heel wat te ontdekken onder het wateroppervlak van het Gardameer! Wist je bijvoorbeeld dat er in de buurt van Salo een scheepswrak ligt? En dat er bij Riva del Garda een groot Christusbeeld op de bodem van het meer staat?

The Cinque Terre are one of the most uncontaminated areas in the Mediterranean Sea. Five miles of rocky coast among two promontories, thousands of kilometres of dry-laid stone walls, five small towns castled up on stone spurs in minuscule creeks. For their history and their position, the Cinque Terre have not suffered a massive expansion. The vineyards, typical of this area, have contributed to create a unique landscape with dry-laid stone walls, winding paths, enchanting beaches between cliffs and clear waters. Manarola has very old origins. It was founded by the inhabitants of the probably Roman settlement of Volastra. Its name derives from the Latin Manium arula, that means a small altar dedicated to the “Mani”, Roman gods of the house. Manarola is characterized by tower houses defending the village. The town is located on a sharp promontory of dark rock, and it is structured around the course, now covered, of the Groppo brook. The square is situated on the higher part of the village. Here we find the 1338 parish church in Gothic style, the oratory and the bell tower.

The Cinque Terre are National Park and UNESCO protected territory since 1997. Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Manarola, Vernazza, Monterosso are the five villages that form the Cinque Terre, suspended between sea and land on sheer cliffs upon the beautiful sea. Manarola is the calmest of the Cinque Terre, later discovered by the tourists. It is possible to enjoy the nature with relaxing walks, above all the “Via dell' Amore” that leads to Riomaggiore. De oorsprong van Manarola vinden we in de Romeinse tijd, waarschijnlijk is het gesticht door inwoners van de Romeinse nederzetting Volastra. De naam is afkomstig van het Latijnse Manium arula, wat zoveel betekent als het altaar van de Manos, Romeinse huisgoden. Door het gebrek aan informatie is er over de geschiedenis van Manarola weinig bekend. Net als in de andere dorpen van Cinque Terre vinden we in Manarola torenhuizen die de bevolking beschermden. Het dorp is gebouwd op een steile heuvel van donkere rotsen. De haven is omringd door twee rotsachtige paden. Manarola strekt zich uit langs de loop van de nu gedempte stroom van de Groppo. Bovenin het dorp vinden we het plein waarop zich de religieuze gebouwen bevinden, zoals de gotische parochiekerk uit 1338, het oratorium en de klokkentoren. Manarola is het rustigste dorp van de vijf, misschien wel omdat het pas later ontdekt is door toeristen. Hier kan men nog ongestoord genieten van de natuur door middel van aangename wandelingen in de omgeving, waarvan de Via dell’Amore het mooiste is, deze verbindt Manarola met Riomaggiore via een rotspad dat boven de zee uitsteekt.

The beach at Monterosso runs along most of the coast line and is well used by tourists and locals. Like a precious gem strung on a chain of rock hang from high cliffs that tower over the Mediterranean Sea. Monterosso is one of the five villages in Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre have come to be among the most popular areas of Italy among tourists. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all encapsulated in a national park by the same name. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's most picturesque, fun and quaint at the same time, very accessible, and terrific for swimming. Being on the water makes the cliffs more dramatic and the colors more intense. It’s a very different way to see the five towns. Of the five towns, the largest beaches are found at Monterosso. The medieval Torre Aurora or Dawn Tower separates the old part of Monterosso from the new part. It is located on a headland, jutting out into the sea. The tower is the only one remaining of an original 13 towers which surrounded Monterosso in the 16th century.

Of the five Cinque Terre towns, the largest beaches are found at Monterosso al Mare. A rocky outcropping splits Monterosso into old town and new town. Just steps from the train station, this is most visitors' first view of the beach that fronts Monterosso's old town. From Monterosse you can see the other Cinque Terre villages: Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomagiore.

De Cinque Terre bestaat uit vijf dorpjes langs de Italiaanse kust vlakbij La Spezia in Ligurië in Italië. De dorpen zijn in 1997 opgenomen in de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Het gebied is alleen bereikbaar per boot of trein. Behalve het land is ook de zee hier beschermd. Monterosso is één van de vijf dorpjes. Het dorp is omringd door heuvels die zijn bezaaid met wijngaarden en olijfbomen en heeft fantastische stranden, adembenemende riffen en kristalheldere wateren. Een prachtig pittoreske dorpje, leuk en erg gezellig, zeer toegankelijk en geweldig voor zwemmen. In de 16e eeuw was Monterosso omringd door 13 torens, waarvan er tegenwoordig nog drie bestaan: de toren van het kasteel, de middeleeuwse toren, die nu klokkentoren is van de San Giovanni kerk en de Aurora toren. Het strand in Monterosso wordt in de zomermaanden altijd druk bezocht door Italianen. Na zonsondergang zijn de meeste dagjestoeristen alweer vertrokken per trein. Wat overblijft is het mooiste strand wat je maar kan voorstellen. Romantisch met z'n tweeën genieten van het prachtige strand en helder blauw water. Het water is zo blauw dat je er gewoon in wilt springen en zwemmen. De ruige Ligurische rotskust in Italië vormen de kern van het Nationale Park Cinque Terre. Vanaf het diepe blauwe water zien de kliffen er dramatischer en intenser uit. Het is een heel andere manier om de vijf steden te zien.

The Cinque Terre are five coastal villages in the province of La Spezia in the Liguria region of Italy. Vernazza is the fourth town heading north into the Cinque Terre. It has no car traffic. It remains one of the truest fishing villages on the Italian Riviera overseen by a ruined castle. The church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia of Vernazza, begun in 1318. It has a nave and two aisles with an octagonal bell tower rising from the apse area. Proud of their Vernazzan heritage, the town's 500 residents like to brag: Vernazza is locally owned. Portofino has sold out. Fearing the change it would bring, keep-Vernazza-small proponents stopped the construction of a major road into the town and region. Families are tight and go back centuries. There are well-laid out walking trails connecting each village to its neighbors. The Via Dell'Amore, Lovers Walk. The trail from Monterosso to Vernazza is by far the steepest. It winds through olive orchards and vineyards and is rough in places, but offers the best view of the bay and the spectacular approaches to Vernazza.

Vernazza is my favorite of the five villages that comprise Cinque Terre with the stone houses painted in vibrant hues that contrast starkly with the black volcanic rocks on which they perch. Aside from eating, drinking, sunbathing, and swimming, Vernazza’s beach is a perfect place to watch local fishermen set out in their colorful wooden boats.

Ook zijn er door muurtjes begrensde olijf- en citroenboomgaarden op de heuvelwanden te vinden.

Koh Tao - Turtle Island is an island in Thailand located near the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. It covers an area of about 21 km². The economy of the island is almost exclusively centred around tourism, especially scuba diving. Ko Tao was named by its first settlers after the island's turtle-like geographic shape. Coincidentally, the island is an important breeding ground for Hawksbill turtles and Green turtles. Initially the island was uninhabited, there was only the occasional fisherman from the neighbouring islands, looking for shelter in a storm or just resting before continuing on his journey. Koh Nang Yuan is a small island really close to Koh Tao. It is actually three small islands connected by a sandbar. It boasts stunningly clear turqouise waters, plenty of colorful sealife to entertain snorkelers, and a vantage point that takes your breath away. The vista itself is quite extraordinary, but getting up to the viewpoint is half the fun. But once you’re at the peak? Totally worth it. Does it qualify as The most beautiful Island in Thailand?

Vroeger was Koh Tao onbewoond, slecht enkele locale vissers verbleven af en toe op het eiland om te schuilen voor het slechte weer of om uit te rusten. Koh Tao wordt bezocht vanwege zijn natuur, rust en onderwaterwereld. Even ten noordwesten van Koh Tao ligt het eiland Koh NangYuan. Het exotische eiland is eenvoudig per longtailboot te bereiken vanuit Koh Tao . Dit tropische eiland maakt deel uit van het National Marine Park. Het is eigenlijk een groep van drie eilanden die door zandheuvels met elkaar verbonden zijn. Het water, kristalheldere, heeft een perfecte zichtbaarheid van de zeeleven. Behalve snorkelen door de indrukwekkende onderwaterwereld kunt je ook naar de top van het eiland klimmen. De klim naar boven bestaat uit veel geklauter over rotsen, maar je wordt beloond met een waanzinnig uitzicht over twee baaien.

'San Gimignano delle belle Torri' is in Tuscany, 56 km south of Florence. It served as an important relay point for pilgrims travelling to or from Rome on the Via Francigena. The patrician families who controlled the town built around 72 tower-houses (some as high as 50 m) as symbols of their wealth and power. Although only 14 have survived. Visible from the bends of the highway, San Gimignano announces itself from above with its famous towers. Truly a little gem, it is so precious that UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage Site. So strategic for controlling the valley and offering defense against its enemies, was already inhabited in ancient times. Walking through the Old City means plunging into the Middle Ages and getting a taste of what the city must have been like more than seven hundred years ago. San Gimignano was founded as a small village in the 3rd century BC by the Etruscans. Historical records begin in the 10th century. Within the walls, the well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture.

it is worth spending the evening at San Gimignano, the night colors the city with a magical atmosphere. To visit the city of the towers by night is a show that brings unique sensations. You can walk through the alleys lit by ancient lampposts that give out a yellow light such as the lanterns of a bygone era, you will be enchanted in Piazza della Cisterna under the starry sky framed by the high towers.

San Gimignano is een middeleeuws stadje in de provincie Siena van de Italiaanse regio Toscane. San Gimignano is bekend om zijn dertien torens die het silhouet van de stad domineren. Deze zijn in de 12de en 13e eeuw door rivaliserende rijke families opgetrokken. De torens deden dienst als woning en versterking, maar vooral als prestigeobject. Op haar hoogtepunt had de stad zo'n 70 torens. In de late middeleeuwen was deze stad erg welvarend omwille van diens ligging aan de pelgrimsroute naar Rome. In 1990 is het historische centrum van San Gimignano opgenomen in de lijst van werelderfgoederen van UNESCO. Heerlijke wijn proeven met uitzicht op de glooiende heuvels rondom. Het landschap is fantastisch mooi en de omgeving is er lekker rustig.

Chianti is a red Italian wine produced in Tuscany. The first definition of a wine-area called Chianti was made in 1716. The earliest documentation of a Chianti wine dates back to the thirteenth century when viticulture was known to flourish in the Chianti Mountains around Florence. Discover the most celebrated region of Tuscany. The vineyards of this area produce one of the best wines in the world: Chianti Classico. This Wine represents a major source of wealth for the Chianti area, no wonder then that this product has been particularly looked after and protected, in order to distinguish its quality from other wine productions. This is why a rigid legislation has been introduced to regulate the production of Classic Chianti. The first limit obviously regards the geographical area where the grape must grow. But not only the vineyards must be cultivated in the prescribed area: the whole process of wine-making, storage and bottling must take place inside the protected zone. The grape variety from which Chianti is produced is Sangiovese. The alcoholic strength must not exceed 12 %. In addition to this, there are other requirements that must be followed, regarding the average amount of dry product (24 g/l); the acidity rate (4,5 g/l), the colour (intense ruby red), the smell (fruity, with nuances of wildflowers, berries, cherries or plums) and taste (harmonious, dry, strong and with respectable tannin).

We drive on the glorious wine roads of Tuscany. We visit the farms and cellars and of-course taste the great Chianti wine. Here we visit Casale Dello Sparviero. Harmoniously set in the hills of Castellina in Chianti, in the Siena's Classico area, the estate is spread 380 hectares. The vineyards are set on the altitude of 250 metres and encircled by woods and self vegetation. The Casale dated back to XVI century. The building houses the wine cellars, where wine continues its precious evolution in large oak barrels for quality wine.

Made up of 118 islands only two to four feet above sea level, crisscrossed by 117 canals, and connected by some 360 briges, its main avenue is the curving Grand Canal, its buses the vaporetti. There is no other city in the world of this size and sophistication where the automobile is absent. The richness, color, light, texture, and history create a scene of overwhelming beauty. During the middle ages, Venice became a world maritime power connecting the Occident and the Orient, accumulating in the process immense wealth that is celebrated in art and architecture through the city. The whole city is an extraordinary architectural masterpiece in which even the smallest building contains works by some of the world's greatest artists such as Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and others. While the glories of the past are evident at every turn, the outlying neighborhoods and islands are still animated by a villager lifestyle which must have been unchanged through the centuries. Venice its Lagoon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Viewpoint from The Ponte degli Scalzi "bridge of the barefoot - monks", is one of only four bridges in Venice, Italy, to span the Grand Canal. The bridge connects the sestieri of Santa Croce and Cannaregio. I caught some really nice sunset colors along the Grand Canal of Venice.

Het leven op de lagune werd mogelijk gemaakt door het gebruik van een smalle, lichte boot die mensen en goederen kon vervoeren. Deze Gondel boot werd bestuurd door een enkele roeier die op de achterkant van de boot stond, zodat hij goed zicht had. Venetië bezoeken zonder een tochtje in een gondel te maken kan natuurlijk best, want lopend en met de vaporetti kun je overal komen, maar misschien is het toch beter een bedrag te reserveren om Venetië te bekijken zoals het bekeken moet worden: langzaam voortglijdend door stille grachten tussen hoge huizen, begeleid door het geplons van de riem in het water. Houd er rekening mee dat de gondeliers een soort maffia vormen, waarvan een aantal leden er niet voor terugdeinst toeristen te bedonderen, dus maak tevoren duidelijke afspraken over de tocht en probeer flink af te dingen. Er kunnen zes personen in een gondel en een tochtje van 40 minuten kost overdag volgens het officiële tarief € 80 euro en 's avonds 100 euro; elke 20 minuten langer kost € 40 of € 50 meer. Laat je de gondelier een lied zingen, kost dat veel extra geld! Maar je kunt een heel kort, goedkoop gondeltochtje maken met de traghetto, een openbare gondel die op enkele plaatsen de oversteek over het Canal Grande maakt. Zo'n tochtje kost slechts 50 cent!

The Italian word palazzo usually means any large building rather than a palace; but many of Vinice's palazzi do merit the grander translation. Connecting the districts of San Polo and San Marco across the Grand Canal in the heart of the city, the Rialto Bridge has always been a busy crossing in Venice. The present stone bridge, a single span designed by Antonio da Ponte, was finally completed in 1591.

Venice is a city in northeast Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. It is located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers. Venice is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks.The city in its entirety is listed as World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon. The name is derived from the ancient Veneti people who inhabited the region by the 10th century B.C.Venice has decayed since its heyday and is heavily touristed ,there are slightly more tourists than residents, but the romantic charm remains. Venice, the world's only pedestrian city, is easily walkable, and the absence of cars makes this a particularly pleasant experience. However, walking and standing all day can also be exhausting, so it is best to pace yourself. The best way to get around a bit more quickly by numerous vaporetti water buses and water taxis. If you want to have a romantic ride along the canals, take a gondola ride.

From the train station we took the Vaporetto directly to the Marcopolo Square. The vaporetto is a waterbus operation. It has a set of 19 scheduled lines that serves locales within Venice, Italy, and travels between Venice and nearby islands. From the Vaporetto you can enjoy waterways of Venice.

The coastal line of the Netherlands is comprised of one big finely grained white sandy beach, stretching hundreds of kilometres from the Wadden Islands in the North al the way down to Zeeland in the South. Behind the beaches lie beautiful sand dunes, needed to protect against floods. Generally, it’s windy at the beach. Coupled with the finely grained sand, you need to be able to support sand all over and your towel turning into a sandbox within minutes. Because of the wind, you don’t feel the sun burning your skin and it’s easy to get sunburned. Always protect yourself from the UV rays. The beach between Wijk aan Zee and Castricum is laid back and offers many opportunities for Naturists on its unspoiled shorline. There are several naturist beaches where nudity is permitted but not required. A place where you will breathe peace, quiet and nature. Sometimes the peace and quietness gets disrupted by a F16 . An F-16 gets 2000 km per hour, which is twice the speed of sound. But usually fly about 1500 km per hour. A little too fast to enjoy all the beauty of this beach.

Wijk aan Zee has one of the nicest beaches along the coast because it is wide: lots of space even on a hot summers day. Nudist recreation is permitted between pole 49,5 and 50,25. This area is not signed on the beach. Nudity is permitted but not required. The F16 is probably used to check if there's any dune fire.

Het Noordhollands Duinreservaat is een van de grootste natuurgebieden in ons land. Het strekt zich uit vanaf de Corusterreinen bij Wijk aan Zee tot de Schoorlse Duinen. Daarmee is het zo’n 20 kilometer lang en 2,5 km breed, met een oppervlakte van 5300 hectare. Het strand boven Wijk aan Zee is een ideale bestemming voor rustzoekers en liefhebbers van zwemmen. Naturisme wordt dus hier toegestaan. Naaktstranden zijn vaak wat afgelegen, zowel aan de kust als in het binnenland, zodat men een eind moet lopen om er te komen. Veelal hebben de autoriteiten zo'n plaats aangewezen omdat enerzijds geklede pasanten soms de aanblik van naakte mensen niet waarderen, en anderzijds naakt-recreanten soms de nieuwsgierige of verbaasde blikken van, en het verstoren van de rust door voorbijgangers niet waarderen. Soms wordt de rust ook verstoord door een F16. Een F-16 haalt 2000 km per uur, dat is twee keer de snelheid van het geluid. Maar meestal vliegen zo'n 1500 km per uur. Iets te snel om van alle schoonheid te genieten lijkt mij.

The coastal line of the Netherlands is comprised of one big finely grained white sandy beach, stretching hundreds of kilometres from the Wadden Islands in the North al the way down to Zeeland in the South. Behind the beaches lie beautiful sand dunes, needed to protect against floods. Generally, it’s windy at the beach. Coupled with the finely grained sand, you need to be able to support sand all over and your towel turning into a sandbox within minutes. Because of the wind, you don’t feel the sun burning your skin and it’s easy to get sunburned. Always protect yourself from the UV rays. The beach between Wijk aan Zee and Castricum is laid back and offers many opportunities for Naturists on its unspoiled shorline. There are several naturist beaches where nudity is permitted but not required. A place where you will breathe peace, quiet and nature.

Wijk aan Zee has one of the nicest beaches along the coast because it is wide: lots of space even on a hot summers day. Nudist recreation is permitted between pole 49,5 and 50,25. This area is not signed on the beach. Nudity is permitted but not required.
