De afgelopen jaren hebben veel stedentrippers de stad ontdekt en leren te waarderen. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is een prachtige passage tussen het Dom plein en Piazza della Scala. Verschillende grote namen zoals Gucci, Louis Vuitton en Prada hebben een winkel in deze overdekte winkelstraat. Er zit er ook nog eentje die menig vrouwen hart sneller doet kloppen: Piumelli. De winkel verkoopt de meest prachtige, stijlvolle en elegante handschoenen in alle kleuren denkbaar. Met knoopjes, ritsen, spannende of grappige details, ruches of plooien, je kunt het zo gek niet bedenken of het is er. En natuurlijk, waar de Italianen bekend om zijn, in de beste en zachtste leersoorten.

Piazza Cordusio is a square in central Milan, Italy. It is well known for its several turn-of-the-19th-century Neoclassical and Art Nouveau buildings, banks and post offices. It is still an important commercial square in the city and hosts the Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali, Palace of the Italiano and Stock exchange of Milan. Piazzale Cordusio hosts the Cordusio metro station and is the starting point of the elegant pedestrian Via Dante which leads to the imposing Milan Castle. Opposite to Via Dante, Cordusio borders onto Piazza Mercanti, former city centre in the Middle Ages, which leads directly to Piazza del Duomo, today's city centre.

Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali is located at the Cordusio square and was built by architect Luca Beltrami from 1897 to 1901. Piazza Cordusio is een druk plein in het centrum van Milaan, Italië. Het is bekend om zijn verschillende 19e-eeuwse neoklassieke en Art Nouveau gebouwen, banken en postkantoren. Het is nog steeds een belangrijk commercieel plein in de stad en herbergt het Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali, Palace of the Italiano en de Beurs van Milaan. Dit paleis werd gebouwd door de architect Luca Beltrami 1897-1901. Het is de belangrijkste hoofdkantoor van Assicurazioni Generali. Het heeft een kleine toren met een koepel. The Milan tramway network is an important part of the public transport network of Milan, Italy. In operation since 1881, the network is presently about 200 km. It comprises 17 urban lines and two interurban lines. The orange streetcar rolls to a stop. As the doors swing open, you half expect a crowd of men in fedoras and overcoats with newspapers tucked under their arms to pour out onto the cobbled street. Here in Milan that wouldn’t be such a strange sight . . . these streetcars have been around for quite a while. Running continuously since 1876, they are working that still serve as a main form of transportation for many Milanesi. Take one of the many trams to get from one part of the city to another, or take the 20 for a tour of the city . . the air of history sits quietly among curved wooden benches, beneath the leather straps hanging from gleaming handrails, and from the soft antique lights. Sometimes there is nothing more relaxing than watching the city roll by through the wide glass windows.

The trams are a typical component of the landscape in Milan. The characteristic of the tram tramway Milan are certainly the "Twenty-eight" - series 1500 built between 1928 and 1932 in 502 copies and is still in 163 units in circulation. Reizen met de tram in Milaan is waarschijnlijk de leukste manier en goedkope manier van reizen. In Milaan rijden veel historische trams door het centrum. Hierboven de 1500 serie tram uit 1928. Vanuit de tram heeft u een mooi uitzicht op de stad. Helaas worden ze steeds meer vervangen door de nieuwe moderne trams. Zolang het nog kan moet je zeker eens een rit maken in een van de oude trams, een prima gelegenheid om rustig de stad te leren kennen. Een kaartje kost 1 euro. Kaartjes voor de tram of de bus koopt u bij de kiosken op straat. Je kaartje moet u afstempelen als je de bus of tram ingaat. In totaal rijden er in de stad 495 tramstellen, die verdeeld zijn over 17 lijnen, met een totaal bereik van 200 kilometer. Sinds kort rijdt de nieuwe tramlijn 20, beter bekend als de sight-seeing tram. Deze tram rijdt langs de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van de stad, alwaar je de mogelijkheid hebt om uit te stappen.

To visit Florence you would need at least a couple of days to fully enjoy the city. Visit the Uffizi Gallery and neightborhoods and to really get the taste of the city, he vibes that locals breathe everyday. Sit down at the Loggia dei Lanzi and watch the beautiful Piazza della Signoria. Take the time to visit San Lorenzo’s Food markets in central florence. Here you’ll get the chance to live the real florentine feel. Eat Panino con Lampredotto – This delicious abomasus sandwich might sound strange but is delicious. Climb the Duomo and get to the Top of the Cupolone. Walk along the Arno River and Cross The Ponte Vecchio. The Ponte Vecchio is one of Florence’s landmarks and probably the most photographed bridge in the city. See the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo. Piazzale Michelangelo is most famous square in Florence with a magnificent panoramic view of the city. Get lost in Oltrarno. The Oltrarno, the section of Florence on the other side of the river from Piazza Della Signoria, it’s the more intimate area in Florence. You'll discover some of your favourite sights this way. In Florence zijn er ontelbare toeristische mogelijkheden. Wie voldoende tijd heeft, kan de stad verkennen en proberen de sfeer te proeven. Het stadscentrum is niet al te groot en daardoor ideaal om minstens één dag al wandelend te verkennen. Indien je bezoek aan Florence beperkt is tot 1 dag, is het verstandig om de keus te beperken tot hooguit enkele attracties. U kunt de buitenkant van de Dom bewonderen en een bezoek binnen achterwege laten. Maar het baptisterium en een klim naar de top van de koepel of de klokkentoren mag u niet missen. Vervolgens doorkruist u het centrum tot aan Piazza della Signoria en il Ponte Vecchio via welke u de rivier oversteekt voor een lunch in de karakteristieke wijk Oltrarno. Vooraf zou u nog een bezoek kunnen brengen aan een van de middelgrote musea: Museo Opera del Duomo. De onvermoeibare toerist kan na de lunch opnieuw de oude brug oversteken voor een bezoek aan gli Uffizi. Na deze enigszins inspannende activiteiten kunt u aan het eind van de middag een wandeling maken naar het plein Piazza di Santa Croce, wanneer de laatste zonnestralen hun licht schijnen op de gelijknamige basiliek. Voor de betoverende uitzichten gaat u naar de zone Oltrarno voor een panorama vanaf het drukbezochte Piazzale Michelangelo. Ik hoop dat m'n foto's je inspireren om deze pracht stad een keer te gaan bezoeken. Bedankt voor alle opmerkingen en favorieten.

This is the premier textile magazine. It contains museum quality photographs and stories. In every issue it continues to demonstrate in vivid detail that textile design, manufacturing and embellishing is a true art form. Each quarterly issue is full of color pictures, and information on what is happening in Europe and throughout the world, in regards to the textile industry. Articles cover areas such as fibers, fabric, weaving, tapestry, embroidery, lace, museum exhibitions and other various activities and insights into the varied and diverse industry called textiles.

My photo of Janet Echelman taken at the grand light festival in Amsterdam is published in the premier textile magazine. Issue March 2013 on page 10. Also my photo will be published on Janet Echelman website and used for other promotion purposes.

The new Yahoo! Weather mobile app features photos of different weather conditions in places around the world. If you’d like to download Yahoo! Weather, you can find it in the Android Market. Android Market. or iPhone store. Yahoo Weather brings every season to life with instant forecasts combined with beautiful photographs of your location that match current weather conditions. Today 13 March 2013, a temperature record of -13 degrees celcius measured. At various places in the Netherlands in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday temperature records were broken. So deep in March is almost never been cold, especially during the day. The amount of snowfall is a peculiarity in this time of year.

Vandaag 13 maart 2013 een recordkou van -13 graden gemeten. Op diverse plaatsen in Nederland zijn in de nacht van dinsdag op woensdag temperatuurrecords gesneuveld. Zo diep in maart is het bijna nog nooit zo koud geweest, zeker overdag. Ook de hoeveelheid gevallen sneeuw is een bijzonderheid in deze tijd van het jaar, net als het feit dat er nog meer sneeuwval op stapel staat. Dat de sneeuw verder makkelijk blijft liggen, is ook tamelijk uniek, zegt Meteo Consult. Sneeuw in maart is op zich niet heel raar, maar dat die niet wegsmelt is wel bijzonder. Ook donderdag kan het nog sneeuwen, maar er wordt verder veel zon verwacht. Daardoor zou het dan minder koud moeten aanvoelen dan de afgelopen dagen. Vrijdag laat de zon zich ook zien, maar later op de dag gaat het sneeuwen. Er wordt voorlopig nog geen lenteweer verwacht. Mijn foto was vandaag te zien in de Yahoo Weather app. Altijd leuk je eigen foto te zien in deze leuke mobiele telefoon app. Zowel voor android of IPhone beschikbaar. De app. zoekt bij je locatie waar je bent een foto op die past bij het weer type. Vandaag sneeuwde het en zag ik mijn foto toevallig als achtergrond. Yahoo heeft een database van foto's van de hele wereld.

From December 7th through you can enjoy a grand light festival in downtown Amsterdam. Walk or sail alongside to light sculptures created by leading artists, beautifully illuminated buildings, bridges and boats and surprising light projections on buildings. On the Amstel river in front of the City Hall you can see the artwork 1.26 Amsterdam of Janet Echelman from United States. 1.26 Amsterdam is a referral to the earthquake in Chili of February 2010 that reduced the day by 1.26 microseconds. For Echelman, the opportunity to integrate the reflections of the light in the water in Amsterdam with her work is unique. Janet Echelman reshapes the urban airspace with monumental, fluid and moving sculptures that respond to environmental forces, such as wind, water and sunlight. In India, Echelman created a new form of voluminous sculpture of fishing nets for the first time, without heavy and solid materials. To shape her projects, she works with a team of professionals from, for instance, the aviation industry and architecture.

Van 7 december t/m 20 januari kun je komen kijken naar dit bijzondere lichtfestival in de binnenstad van Amsterdam. Wandel of vaar langs lichtsculpturen van toonaangevende kunstenaars, schitterend aangelichte panden, bruggen en boten en verrassende lichtprojecties op gebouwen. Een wandelroute door historisch Amsterdam tussen Amstel en Het Scheepvaartmuseum langs 20 inspirerende lichtkunstobjecten. Ice skating in the heart of Amsterdam at the Museumplein. This square is called Museum Square because four museums are located around the square: the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, and the Diamond Museum. Many visitors enjoy the beautiful winter weather. The Museumplein was reconstructed ten years ago to a design by a Swedish architect. The artificial lake which is converted into an ice skating rink for the four months of winter. In the old days, before bicycles, children couldn’t wait for the cold weather to freeze the canals so that they could strap on wooden ice skates and get to school much faster than walking. At the weekends, families would skate to friends and relatives and enjoy biscuits and hot drinks served from barrows. Pea soup was also a popular way to get nutrition and warmth when out skating. A full day can be spent at Museumplein serving the mind and body. Once the mind is tired of looking at all the exhibits in the Rijksmuseum, simply refresh by strapping on your skates and stretching your legs on the ice. The air is always full of tempting smells from stands selling Dutch pancakes and a number of other sweet-smelling goodies.

When the winter is too warm for skating on the canals, Amsterdam has a number of outside ice rinks including the delightful Museumplein rink which is adjacent to the magnificent Rijksmuseum.

De schaatsbaan is geopend van zaterdag 1 december 2012 tot en met dinsdag 14 februari 2013. 7 dagen per week schaatsplezier van 10:00 uur tot 20:00 uur. Schaatsen op het Amsterdamse Museumplein. De IJsbaan op het Amsterdamse Museumplein is weer geopend en trekt mede door het mooie winterweer weer veel bezoekers. De ovale ijspiste biedt bijna 1300 m2 ijsvertier. Even dreigde de Amsterdamse ijsbaan - door diverse bezuinigingen - in 2011 geen doorgang te kunnen vinden. Dankzij de exploitatie door Swedice All Season Fun & Events is er ook in de winter van 2011-2012 volop ijsvertier geboden op het Museumplein waarbij voor het eerst in de geschiedenis commerciële activiteiten waren toegestaan. De ijsbaan, gelegen op een van de drukst bezochte pleinen van Nederland, is niet meer weg te denken en wordt onder meer veelvuldig door buurtbewoners aangedaan. In samenspraak met het Stadsdeel Zuid werd besloten de entreeprijs laagdrempelig te houden. Het café naast de ijsbaan verzorgt de koek en zopie en er is een poffertjeskraam aanwezig. Even opwarmen, chocolademelk met slagroom en een portie versbereide ambachtelijke poffertjes. Je buik rondeten aan de lekkerste stamppotten en snert. Op het winterterras is voor iedereen iets lekkers te halen! Oude tijden herleven weer zo ;-)

This holiday season there's no shortage of festive events going on in Amsterdam. Christmas shows, markets, winter festivals, ice skating, even the circus has come to town. Get amongst the wintry fun. Amsterdammer's love for the word gezellig meaning: similar to cosy but used in a broader sense, is seen no more fittingly than over the holiday period, when the city's village charm shines in fairy lights, snugs up in warm cafes and bars and brims with silly season spirit. It's a pity the canals are not yet frozen this year. But Ice Skating is possible throughout the city. You can skate and glide around the Jaap Edenbaan or head to the smaller rinks at Museumplein and Leidseplein. And then warm up with a hot meal and a drink at one of the nearby cafes. Pink Christmas comes to town till 31 December 2012 featuring theatre, shows, ice skating events, the Drag Queen Winter Olympics, club nights and a whole lot more. This year the Amsterdam Light Festival puts the beautiful city centre and its canals in the limelight. The festival features the Illuminade evening walking route, the Boulevard of Light along the Amstel River, the Socialight programme and of course, the spectacular Christmas Canal Parade. But even without light parade the canals remain always a pretty sight.

De feestmaand december staat in het teken van heuse kerstactiviteiten in Amsterdam. Trek je schaatsen aan, doe je tegoed aan glühwein en braadworst. Dit jaar kunnen we helaas niet op de grachten schaatsen. Echte schaatsliefhebbers komen aan hun trekken op de Jaap Edenbaan. Als je een klein beetje ijspret wilt combineren met een gezellig diner of afzakkertje in de stad, kun je ook terecht op de kleine ijsbanen op het Museum- en Leidseplein. Hoewel het nog niet echt koud is geweest is de gezelligheid in Amsterdam op vrijwel elke hoek van de straat te vinden. Artis is tijdens de kerstvakantie elke dag tot 20.00 uur open. Er is een apart lichtpad ontworpen, de dierentuin is feestelijk verlicht en je kunt je tegoed doen aan stamppot, oliebollen en glühwein. The Paradiso Orchestra en hun muzikale gasten zorgen op tweede kerstdag voor een bonte middag in de grote zaal van Paradiso. Alle traditionele ingrediënten zoals glühwein, muziek en een verrassend kerstverhaal maken het kerstuitje compleet! Op verschillende plekken in Amsterdam vind je lichtsculpturen van internationale kunstenaars en kunstzinnig verlichte gebouwen. Inclusief Illuminade avondwandelroute, de Boulevard of Light langs de Amstel en de spectaculaire Christmas Canal Parade door de grachten. Maar ook zonder lichtparade blijven de grachten altijd een mooi gezicht.

On the Amstel river in front of the City Hall you can see the artwork 1.26 Amsterdam of Janet Echelman from United States. 1.26 Amsterdam is a referral to the earthquake in Chili of February 2010 that reduced the day by 1.26 microseconds. For Echelman, the opportunity to integrate the reflections of the light in the water in Amsterdam with her work is unique. Janet Echelman reshapes the urban airspace with monumental, fluid and moving sculptures that respond to environmental forces, such as wind, water and sunlight. In India, Echelman created a new form of voluminous sculpture of fishing nets for the first time, without heavy and solid materials. To shape her projects, she works with a team of professionals from, for instance, the aviation industry and architecture.

The ancient Roman city Florence was founded around 60 B.C. The city was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Politically, economically, and culturally it was the most important city in Europe for around 250 years; from some time before 1300 until the early 1500s. Florentines reinvented money in the form of the gold florin. This currency was the engine that drove Europe out of the Dark Ages. Florentines were the driving force behind the Age of Discovery. Florentine bankers financed Henry the Navigator and the Portuguese explorers who pioneered the route around Africa to India and the Far East. Florence is filled with many other churches stuffed with some of the finest art in the world. In all, Florence has something over 80 museums. Among those at the top of most lists are the City hall, the Palazzo della Signoria, the Archeological Museum and Museum of the History of Science. The Uffizi Gallery is one of the world's top art museums - it houses some of the most important works of the Renaissance, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Giotto, Botticelli and Michelangelo. Lots of sculptures too. Wander some of the oldest streets in the city until you reach the Arno River, cross the Ponte Vecchio, and experience the newest area of Florence, the Oltrarno. Summer is hot in Italy, no getting away from it, but I don't see that as a reason to skip Florence.

It is the focal point of the origin and of the history of the Florentine Republic and still maintains its reputation as the political hub of the city. It is the meeting place of Florentines as well as the numerous tourists, located near Ponte Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo and gateway to Uffizi Gallery.

Florence is de hoofdstad van Toscane en heeft bijna 400.000 inwoners. De grote rivier die door de stad stroomt is de Arno en daar zijn dan ook ruim tien bruggen overheen gelegd. De wegen die direct langs de Arno lopen beginnen allemaal met het woord Lungarno (vrij vertaald: langs de Arno). Florence is een van de belangrijkste kunststeden ter wereld. Het herbergt prachtige kunstwerken en gebouwen: de David van Michelangelo, de Santa Maria del Fiore met de koepel van Brunelleschi, de Ponte Vecchio met huizen aan de weerszijden van de brug, en niet te vergeten de Galleria degli Uffizi met een aantal van de belangrijkste renaissance-kunstwerken van Italiaanse, Hollandse, Vlaamse, Duitse en Spaanse meesters. Als je Florence wilt bezoeken, moet je proberen in de lente of de herfst te gaan; in de zomer is het er stikheet en barst het er van de toeristen, terwijl het in de herfst en de lente aangenaam warm is en niet al te druk bij de belangrijke bezienswaardigheden. Maar ja voor ons toch geen reden om deze stad over te slaan in hartje zomer.
