Under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. St Georges was built by Thomas Gilbert. A portlander who worked with Sir Christopher wren.

One of over 2000 Monuments in the church yard. The whole Cemetary has recently been recorded using special cameras to actually read some of the almost completely eroded writings upon the head stone. This work has been completed by local volunteers and the "Churches Conservation Trust" who has funded the work. Photo taken by Andy J Straw

St Georges Church. Portland Dorset. Built by Thomas Gilbert who designed it based on St Pauls Cathedral in London, and he was also a friend of Sir Christopher Wren. Some say, that Gilbert had a huge input in the design of St Pauls Catherdal, and some say that it was actually Gilbert who designed St Pauls, and Wren stole the Idea.
