Extraterrestrial Sunrise

Taken in Seattle back in June 2007. While looking for a Lightroom to Facebook export plugin, I found a post about creative RAW editing on Jeffrey Friedl’s Lightroom Goodies page.

I started by trying to get a "moonrise" effect, but I ended up with these beautiful tons and I couldn't force myself to bring it back to something more monotone that actually resembled a moonrise. So I happily settled for this "extraterrestrial sunrise"

As with many of my photos lately, this one looks fantastic when viewing the large version on a black background.

Sunset Revisited

Taken the same day as this photo from a trip I took to Seattle with Mike (who as kind enough to provide his silhouette for this shot).

The effect was something I stumbled across while browsing flickr. The tutorial is pretty cool. I modified it a little here and there to suit my tastes.

It seems like this would make for a good background.

I love everything about this photo. The wide angle of the sky that is included, the reflection of the sunset in the water, the boats. Everything.

Fuzzy Silhouette

Despite the emo look Mike has in this picture, I still love it. Focusing on the water/sunset was an accident, but added a great effect to the silhouette.

Gazing Sunset

The silhouette is sharper in this picture and the sunset is out of focus. I think it results in an interesting effect.
