Chinook in Mid-Stride

Little Lioness posted a photo:

So I haven't really been around much lately, and it's mostly due to the fact that I'm finally wrapping up my senior year and moving on to bigger and brighter things.

I'm also proud to announce that I'm the excited new owner of a Canon EOS 7D. It's a BIG step up from the XTi I've been using for the last several years, and it makes shooting wildlife a lot simpler in many ways.

For starters, it's WAY faster, and I'm feeling that the camera is finally up to par with my own reflexes. I can fire off 6 frames-per-second now, and shoot in both RAW and JPEG with the touch of a button!

It's also a superior ISO that goes over 6,000 in normal shooting mode as opposed to a simple 1,600 with the Rebel.

I'm excited about my future now in more ways than one...and it's not just because of the new camera! ;)

With that said, I'm happy to present Chinook: A female cougar at the Oregon Zoo. She is not normally very active, but on this day, my boyfriend and I watched her climb up this log and then back down again--twice. Once she'd done this and paced in front of the glass a few times, she paused underneath a large tree....then leapt TEN FEET straight up into the limbs so she could suvey the other zoogoers. It was fantastic.
