We had such great weather these last few days! The kids walked to school on many mornings, cutting through the field behind our house to make it quicker. Misti has been following them every morning. She was so cute, as if she wanted to go to school too. I just thought she was the perfect little copy cat. :-)

OK, not so much of an idiom, but something we do hear sometimes...

(Can you tell I've been struggling to find an idea for the theme...? In fact, I find it harder and harder to find/make time for photo these days. I really need to do a BIG spring clean up in my schedule soon!)

Oh and I case you're wondering, no I did not even have to tell him to climb in there. He just felt like helping in getting all the cardboard in by jumping on it.

What a great timing! I spent two days in Montreal this week for a training - it was nice to get to do some street photography there instead of my quiet suburban area. (It was also VERY nice to try out my new 28mm 1.8 lens!)

This is not quite the picture I wanted to make this week, but it would have been awkward to do the one I had in mind... We attended a funeral yesterday, my aunt died at 59 from lung cancer. It was very sad day, of course, but very lively also, with people happy to reunite and find each other around their loss. At some point, we were all gathered in the reception room, eating and drinking and (yes) laughing, with my aunt's ashes and picture on the fireplace mantle, looking at us as if she were there - maybe she was. I would have like to capture this - her absence and presence at the same time, with all of her loved ones comforting each other, each in his own way, all around her. But as I said, I would have felt a bit awkward to take pictures in such a moment. So here is my pic for the week - not quite as strong as the one I wanted to make, but on the same theme, anyway...

Yep, nature really feels dead today. Was going for a shot outside for this week's theme but today we were hit with one (hopefully) last snowfall. So I did the shot inside, with a fake flower and a sad, grey background. Can't spring come already? This winter has already lasted too long, if you want my opinion.

This is a magic wand that dear friends (with a wicked sense of humor) gave us. They saw this in a souvenir shop and thought it was so incredibly funny to buy us a stick that was actually sold as a magic wand. :-) But since my son read Harry Potter, it's one of his favorite toys and we had a blast during the holidays by letting him believe he actually could light the Christmas lights with his wand. Of course, dad was helping a bit with the remote - but who needs to know that?

The snow was perfect just minutes before I started shooting and then the snowflakes started to cluster and it was hard to find a nice one. Had to crop quite a bit, even with a macro lens.

Misti keeping an eye on what goes on in the street while they kids play. I thought this would be an easy theme, but boy did I struggle with it. I'm not all that happy with that shot either - it doesn't look so low angle to me, yet I was laying down on my stomach in the middle of the street to shoot it! I tried a number of things but they were all booooring. I notice that this lack of inspiration often strikes me around that time of the year: winter seems to never end, I'm tired, sick of shooting indoors or shooting in the snow and I feel like I made all the possible pictures in the world. Can't wait for spring.
