I was on holidays when I took this photo. I looked out my hotel window and saw the rain running down the window. Hoping I would get some unique shots with rain pouring down, I grabbed my tripod and camera and headed out to the streets. As I walked towards the Sydney Opera House, people were coming out from a show. Most with their umbrellas. I had a feeling it was going to be a special night for photos. There were very few people on the streets and the rain just put a gloss on everything it touched. The colours were very rich. I had never seen Sydney more beautiful.

360Q. A restaurant on Queenscliff Harbour. Lovely dinner followed by a climb up the tower 137 steps takes you all the way up with fantastic views every step of the way until the very top. Kids loved it and the food was very good too. www.360Q.com.au

Chinese New Year 2012

Happy New Year everyone. It was a warm night at the Crown Casino Chinese New Year festival. Lots of hawker food, lots of people and lots of laughter. Everyone was in a festive mood. The night ended with fireworks over the Yarra river.

Night shot taken after sunset while walking with family and friends on the boardwalk along Merimbula Lake. It was a little worrying as I gave my torch to my kids to get home and I didn't have a light to shine the way back. I ended up using the light from the screen on my camera to light the way. It wasn't very bright but better than nothing. I'm still glad I stayed to take this shot. What do you think?

The Boardwalk on Merimbula Lake. After the result of my first HDR attempt I think I've caught the bug. I notice some CA on the branches of the trees in the distance, is this normal for HDR? It's difficult to get away from family and friends when you're supposed to be on holidays with them so I took the opportunity when we decided to go for a walk. If you look closely at the far end of the boardwalk you can just make out my kids, my wife and friends.

This is my first attempt at HDR while on holidays with my family. Had a little trouble getting away to take shots which started a small argument. :) As they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
