Tibouchina - Purple Glory tree

Today we travelled about 2 hours down the South Coast to Austinmer where we visited my in-laws who were holidaying there. The neighbouring town of Thirroul had a festival going on, near and on the beach. There were sculptures on the beach, a wonderful photographic exhibition and plenty of market stalls and entertainment happening. The Tibouchina has been out everywhere in Sydney for a few weeks and it certainly is glorious, it grows really high and looks wonderful so I guess that's why it is called Purple Glory!

Well I have been out practising today with my extension tubes that I got recently, this time I took my 50mm fixed lens to use as well. I had all sorts of problems with the wind and for once I didn't take my tripod, however I am really pleased with this shot.

I was back in the Blue Mountains today with one of our visitors who goes home tomorrow. I was leaning over a fence at Echo Point Lookout, Katoomba to take this photo as the flower was growing wild on the side of the rocks, having forgot my new sunglasses were on my head. Well they are now down there way past the flower with no possibility of ever reaching them.
