This panoramic image of the Milky Way was captured on the 3rd of June at 7.10pm near Kilcoy about 80km N.W of Brisbane and is the result of 6 images merged.
Exif data is: 16mm, 35 seconds at F2.8, ISO 6400.

Sunset afterglow ~~ Lake Samsonvale

Lake Samsonvale is about 10 kilometers from Petrie when driving towards Dayboro. The North Pine Dam was built to provided water to Brisbane and the Moreton Regional Council. The dam wall is 40 meters high and 580 meters long.

The Gateway to both the New England and Northern Rivers Regions - the Shire of Tenterfield is a massive area of 713,439 hectares with an overall population of approximately 6,394 residents - and growing! Tenterfield town itself is surrounded by over 10 National Parks.

The Blue Hour ~~ Shorncliffe Jetty

The Shorncliffe Jetty is Brisbane's largest timber pier and was constructed in the 1880’s. It is one of the longest recreational piers in Australia, reaching approximately 350 metres out into Bramble Bay. It also forms part of the Sandgate/Shorncliffe foreshore and is a feature of Moora Park.

The Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is located at Gardens Point on the Brisbane River adjacent to the Brisbane C.B.D. The gardens are bordered by the Brisbane River on one side, and the grounds of Parliament House and the Queensland University of Technology's Gardens Point campus on another. The gardens also include Brisbane's most mature gardens, with many rare and unusual botanic species including a special collection of cycads, palms, figs and bamboo.

Bushfires had been burning close to Brisbane for the last few days creating a layer of smog, which for photographers is great news as the sunsets in these conditions can be very awe inspiring. So today I drove to Dohles Rock, which is a small suburb of the Moreton Shire Council and captured this sunset.
This photograph was taken about 40 minutes before the other Bushfire Sunset image that I posted here about 3 months ago.

Kondalilla Falls is located in the Kondalilla National Park which is part of the Blackall Range in South East Queensland 91 km north of Brisbane. There is a large picnic area where there are toilet facilities.

Lake Samsonvale is about 10 kilometers from Petrie when driving towards Dayboro. It was created when the North Pine Dam was built to provided water to Brisbane and the Moreton Regional Council.
Sometimes you can just be in the right place at the right time!
But forward planning and knowing where the Sun or rise will set can help you capture the image that you're hoping for!

The South Bank Parklands are located on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, at South Bank, directly opposite the City. The parklands as features like; the riverfront promenade, the Streets Beach, the Grand Arbour, Suncorp Piazza, the Nepal Peace Pagoda, and the Wheel of Brisbane.
This image was taken a short time after a huge thunderstorm hit Brisbane on Sunday evening the 25th of March.

A New Day Begins ~~ Shorncliffe Jetty, S.E QLD

The Shorncliffe Pier is Brisbane's largest timber pier and was constructed in the 1880’s. It is one of the longest recreational piers in Australia, reaching approximately 350 metres out into Bramble Bay. In March 2012, the Council closed the pier to public access, due to safety concerns associated with the condition of the structure. There is no set date yet as to when the works to restore the Peir will start or when they will be expected to finish.

This image was taken in mid December 2012, some guys were praticing Fire Twirling on the beach beside the Shorncliffe Jetty and I offered to take a few pictures of them doing there thing.
They were happy with the images that I'd taken and used them to promote thier work.

This image was captured at about 1.30am on Sunday the 5th of May, 2013 just outside the city of Tenterfield in Northern NSW.
I had just finished capturing 4 hours of time lapse images of Stars and noticed that the Milky Way was directly above the windmill.

My wife & I live a fairly busy lifestyle with both of us running our own business’s, but at least once a week we go out with our daughter and in summer that’s the beach as she loves playing in the water. This image is a classic example of our daughter enjoying herself at the beach.

February 2013 has been very wet in Brisbane, with most days being overcast and many of these day it has rained. This isn’t the best weather for going out to capture photographs but I’ve been lucky enough to have a few opportunities of capturing some nice images, this being one of them which I took on my way home from teaching a Basic DLSR Photography Workshop in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.
