Here you can see the sleds that we all had to pull for the first week or so. These were in addition to the huge backpacks (60+ pounds) that we had to carry. Everything we needed for 3 weeks had to be brought with us. The result of this load was initially very slow progress. Just to make things a little more difficult we had to be roped up at all times while moving, (due to the dangers of crevasses). This meant that we had to move at the same speed as the others on our 4 person rope, and not our own pace.

This pyramid tent sat over a large hole (12' x 12' X 4' deep) dug into the snow and was where we did all the cooking and eating. It was large enough for 12 of us to fit into.
