Half Dome And The Merced

This was take a couple of days ago in Yosemite. I've been to this spot several times, last year my husband and I met Nan and Beth there in June. We had great cheese sandwiches at a picnic table that is no longer there. The water was a lot higher then, this time the low water was kind of cool. Note: there's a couple of people on the beach next to that log and some smoke from campfires hanging in the air.

Windmill And Crazy Sky

This windmill is only seconds from my house, and when I passed by it the other day and saw that amazing sky, I had to go back and shoot it. Unfortunately, they have a tall, strong fence to keep the deer out (and other varmints!) so I can't get into the orchard anymore. I had to shoot from the road in front. This is an hdr of three shots, trying to get the foreground and sky. It can never match what my eye sees.

I left the group I was with to photograph out on this unstable point (see the dirt to the left) It was lucky I didn't fall off as it got darker and darker.

When I see brilliant clouds forming overhead, I say 'bye to my husband and drive like crazy to Avila with my camera gear. I'm there in 10 or 12 minutes and set up above the town. This was a great one and it's fairly deserted in December. I talked with a couple of locals shooting it, too. Very mystical experience. Taken before my post of the Avila Walkway.

I went to Avila last night to get a sunset. It didn't really materialize but I liked these two ladies sitting behind their umbrella.

I'm off to Yosemite for a few days on Wednesday.

An homage to our last day on earth~

Taken from the golf course in Death Valley last month. All the signs said don't enter, no how, no way, stay out. But the sunset was beautiful behind the palms so I snuck in.

Taken at Shell Beach yesterday. The weather was beautiful but the waves were high and it was windy. (note branches on the right....I'll go back when it's calm) Though there was a minus tide the tide pools were a bust so I had to find something else to photograph.

The water of Morro Bay harbor was very still and glassy the other day. Where I was standing to take this was layers and layers of oyster shells. (the old oyster factory?)

My husband and I got up around 5am to catch this sunrise at the tufa right near Lee Vining. It was spectacular to see.
