Lee's Liquors also known as "The Wine Center" has been around like the sign says since 1957.............. well except for the year or so that Lee's closed and the great old A-Frame building Lee's resided in was up for sale........... now Robert Gabrielyan and his wife have re-modeled the store and brought Lee's back to life much to the enjoyment of the local west-siders who have patronized this great liquor & wine store in the past

This 40ft tall hand carved wooden Indian was Created by artist Peter "Wolf" Toth, residing at the Cabot's Pueblo Museum in Desert Hot Springs it is part of the grounds interesting artifacts.
The Museum is a Hopi inspired pueblo and was built by Cabot Yerxa almost single-handed over the span of twenty three years............ for more info check this link

Echo Park Lake

Echo Park is a historic area close to the downtown LA civic center, The Echo Park Lake where much of the surrounding homes and business were built around was formed as a reservoir in 1868.
Over the ensuing years the reservoir was transformed into a beautiful lake complete with a boathouse in 1932.
In 2006 Echo Park Lake was declared a City of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Monument and for more information about this lake and all the other unique places to be found in the historic Echo Park area check this link: www.historicechopark.org/index.html

Clifton's Cafeteria

One of the more unique and historic landmarks on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles is Clifton's Cafeteria which was opened in 1935.
Owned and operated by Clifford Clinton and his wife Nelda and later on their children This locations interior was made to look like a northern California Mountain resort called Brookdale (which he named this location) where Clifford spent his summers as a youth, the Family also owned another cafeteria on Olive St. called the Pacific Seas and that restaurant was decked out like one giant tiki bar and both places had waterfalls inside....... The Pacific Seas closed in 1960 but the Brookdale restaurant has remained.
The last few decades has seen a drop off in customers but this summer the restaurant was sold to Andrew Meieran who owns The Edison bar and nightclub one of the truly amazing bars in downtown LA........... Meieran plans to make some cool changes to the old cafeteria with a new Tiki bar lounge upstairs and the cafeteria being open 24 hours a day, his goal is to restore this LA landmark back to it's 1930's heyday continuing the revitalization of the Los Angeles Broadway theater district blogdowntown.com/2010/09/5684-cliftons-to-stay-open-24-ho...
