Beluga Point - Turnagain Arm of the Seward Highway South of Anchorage, Alaska

Located south of Anchorage, Alaska (milepost 110), this piece of land serves as a great wildlife viewing area. Beluga whales are commonly visible during summer months.
Beluga Point is also on the National Register of Historic Places due to archaeological evidence of human habitation 8,000 - 10,000 years old.

Exit Glacier - Kenai Mountains, Alaska (Near Seward)

Located in Kenai Fjords National Park in the Kenai Mountains of Alaska, the three mile long Exit Glacier "pours" 2,500 feet down out of the Harding Icefield. At the base is Exit Creek, fed by the melting glacier. The glacier served as an "exit point" for the first recorded crossing of the Harding Icefield in 1968 and thereby got its name.
There are blue portions of the glacier that are a result of compressed snow combining with the glacier as it makes its way towards the creek. Air bubbles in the ice are forced out, increasing the size of the ice crystals which allows it to absorb most light, reflecting the short-wavelength blue light.

A Wall in Northern Skye - Scotland

This is a view of one of the many beautiful stone walls crossing the Scottish landscape on the northern most part of Skye. This particular one was right near the grave of Flora Macdonald.

The Chicago Board of Trade at Night Revisited

This is a revisit to one of my favorite views of Chicago: Down Lasalle Street towards the Board of Trade. I wanted to update this shot in and incorporate more of Chicago's iconic bridges and vibrant surroundings. This is a combination of around a dozen exposures, but using various other ones to fit certain pieces into place that moved during long exposures.

Inverness Castle - Scotland

Sitting on a cliff over the River Ness, Inverness Castle dates back to the 11th century but its modern form was built in 1863. Inverness Castle has been a castle on this site for many centuries in various forms. An earlier incarnation of this castle (11th century) is said to be where Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' was based (Duncan's murder).

The town of Inverness is the capital of the Highlands and the northernmost city in the UK. It is located at the northern end of the Great Glen where the River Ness enters the Moray Firth.

Kilt Rock Waterfall - Isle of Skye, Scotland

Located between Portree and Staffin on the Isle of Skye, Kilt Rock is a steep waterfall that rushes down the sheer face of the cliffs on the Trotternish Peninsula. It is said to resemble a kilt (vertical basalt columns to form the pleats and various stones and deposits representing a pattern).

Round Tower of Uig - Isle of Skye, Scotland

This stone tower was constructed around 1860 for Major William Fraser, owner of Kilmuir estate from 1855. Uig Lodge washed away in a flood in 1877 and this tower remains over the bay in Uig on the northwest side of the Isle of Skye. It is said the castle-like tower was once used as a tax collection point.

Dunvegan Castle - Isle of Skye, Scotland

Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. For around 800 years it has
served as the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod. It is located near the town of Dunvegan on the Western part of the Isle of Skye.

Isle of Skye - From Near The Old Man of Storr, Overlooking the Sound of Raasay

This is a view taken while climbing up a rocky hill that The Isle of Skye is famous for - The Old Man of Storr. The shot is looking west over the Sound of Raasay. It is located near Loch Leathan and approximately 7 miles North of the town of Portree.
This landscape is a blend of 12 exposures.

Loch Shiel and Glenfinnan Monument - Lochaber, Highland, Scotland

Loch Shiel is located west of Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland. It is surrounded by mountains and served as the filming location for the school's "Black Lake" of the Harry Potter movies.
The Glenfinnan Monument seen at the edge of the loch was put up in 1815 to mark the spot where Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) raised his standard at the start of the Jacobite Rising in 1745.

This is the result of several exposures blended together in various combinations. Each combination reflects a portion of the image - when composited, shows a view of downtown Chicago from the South. The yellow building near the center and in front of Willis Tower is The Metropolitan Correctional Center.
