Apparently, this aircraft has more power than the entire Snowbirds team put together!

The Gatineau Airshow was pretty awesome this year. All kinds of aircraft from vintage to kick-ass :) The noise was something else altogether. The only fly in the ointment was the music that the organizers insisted on playing which tried to drown out the the REAL music from above.

BTW: The new Flickr maps think that Gatineau is in New York state somehow?!?!?!?

The new 55-minute show will honour the basic shape of former Artistic Director Alan Lund's original two-and-half-hour masterpiece. Divided into distinct historic segments, Les Feux Follets describes, in music and movement, the evolution of the Canadian citizen. Beginning with the First Nations and aboriginal communities, it follows the arrival of European settlers, the use of Asian immigrants to construct the national railroad and explores the influence of Eastern cultures. Quebec and Acadian influences are also richly detailed.

These crazy people were riding the standing wave next to Bate Island. They were even doing synchronized maneuvers. There was also one guy who was using a surf board. He got slammed against the rocks a few times but kept coming back....

This was a live art-thing at the Museum of Civilization during the prelude to the Winterlude fireworks. (Pun intended.) This group of kids trooped around the museum and froze for several minutes at a time. Kind of cute, and kind of tough on the kids....

RAVING LUNATICS!!!! Yup, that's about right.

1. Cut a hole in the ice. Check.
2. The water is just at the freezing point. Check.
3. The wind is blowing quite strongly. Check.
4. Let's all go jump into the freezing water with no clothes on. Check.

This was at Britannia Beach in support of cancer research. There were about 400 raving loons who jumped into the water. Myself, clearly not included....

Quite an exciting game. Not quite a nail biter, but it was nice to see our team on top in such a decisive way. It would have been much better if the glass wasn't covered in streaks!

That's what happened at the Ottawa Suhaag Fashion Show. :( Other than the light, it was very nicely put together.... They even remembered to close the blinds behind the stage this year :)

NSFL Alert! Zombies in Ottawa - again! A lot of people got into the "spirit" this year. I don't know what the official estimate is, but there seemed to be at least double the number of zombies this year compared to last year.

An unholy time was had by all. I did enjoy telling passers by that the Zombie Apocalypse was nye[sic?]!

Her makeup was separating, so I did a minor touch-up. You can see the original shot below.

Well, more like butterfly on hat, but I still like the reference....

This was taken at the Carleton Annual Butterfly Show. They have thousands of butterflies in a green house for about a week. Think tropical jungle, hot humid and full of school kids :) Oranges and white hats seem to be butterfly magnets.

The Medieval Fair in Osgoode, just south of Ottawa provided quite an opportunity for people to "travel" in time. There were a lot of cos-players. Unfortunately, I left my elven +23 boots at home.... [More shots below....]
