Fri 05.17.13 - Just as my Mom and I were parking at the Huntington Library and Gardens today, we got a bunch of phone calls and texts to say that my Mom's dad (my grandpa) was at the hospital in ICU. 20 some odd minutes later, we were exiting the 110 South at 3rd Street to go to St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Not going to explain it all here, but at 91, one's body is tired even if one's spirit wants to keep fighting.

Thurs 05.16.13 - Don't want to eat your tofu/rice/chicken/butternutsquash mash? Will be cleaned up by small dog. Need entertainment while eating? Look under the high chair to find Scruffy waiting for the next Konig Lukas bit of food spillage.

The best part is when Lukas started making a "bububbbbbubbbb" raspberry sound and Scruffy echoed him with a low "bububbbubbb" growl.

There was also the Dance of the Kleenex Tissue...

The giant white bird of paradise

I find these wild bananas / giant white bird of paradise hard to photograph as the plant & flowers are so big and clump together in a way that composing and framing the photos are frustrating no matter if one uses landscape or portrait. One day I will get it right.

It is the colors of the huge flowers that draw me in, the dark dark purple, the white, magenta and light blue lilac colors all sprouting out.

Fri 05.03.13 - The folks working on the Alamitos Bay Marina dredging & modernization project have a calendar with a new day at the end of April. Now that it is May 3rd, I guess that is April 33th in their accounting of days.

Contrary to the Flickr "This video was taken...", I took it on Wed. April 24, 2013, at 7:02pm.

There was a south-southwest swell coming in at an angle to the Seal Beach Pier and every time a wave broke on the sea wall beneath us the section of pier we were on shook like an rolling earthquake.
