Temple V in the ancient Mayan city of Tikal. This was taken on the dawn of Dec 21, 2012 and the beginning of a new Bak'tun (Mayan calendar cycle of 5,125 years).

This view may look familiar to Star Wars fans. This scene was on the Rebel base on Yavin 4, where the final attack on the Death Star was launched!

Macau, 1968

These three photos of my Grandpa and Grandma have a little history.

They're not taken just because they like to take snapshots of them on the beach in Macau, but they were mailed back to my mother in China for the purpose of showing the local terrain and geography and places to go after getting out of the water safely should they make the swim across the heavily-patrolled river, this Hotel Bela Vista being a safe place to go.

She never made the swim over and was instead jailed three times, each time with increasingly long sentences, for attempting to escape China.

Flight of Snow Geese

A flight of snow geese against the backdrop of the North Shore Mountains in Vancouver.

The geese that day, flight after endless flight of V-shapes in the air, were landing on a beach at the mouth of the Fraser River. They are probably in mid-migration between their wintering grounds in the south and their breeding grounds in the north, where they go for the summer.

Outside the Admiralty MTR station at a construction site there's this mural depicting the new South Island Line, which will run from Admiralty to the southern districts of Hong Kong Island sometime in 2015.

Trains over Kobe

Half a dozen tracks and hundreds of catenary poles and wires cut through Kobe, Japan. I like how they make use of the space under the tracks for small shops and storage spaces.

A Search & Rescue (SAR) helicopter of the Canadian Forces on the helicopter pad at naval base HMCS Discovery in Vancouver, Canada.

The helicopter is an AgustaWestland CH-149 Cormorant. There are 15 of them in the Canadian Forces. This one is based out of Comox, British Columbia.

A little Écolobus in Quebec City. It's run by the city's transit company, Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC). For $2 they this little electric bus takes you around the old city.
