Here is an old cabinet card photograph of a large group of people that was taken by the H. R. C. Naismith Landscape & Portrait Photography Company in Rochester, New Hampshire sometime during the 1890's. The following is written on the back:

"Near Bell's Store on River Street"

Cabinet card photographs were thin photos that were pasted onto pieces of cardboard. They derived their name from the customary practice that people, at the time, had of displaying these photographs on cabinets in the front parlors of their homes.
