my recent week-long internet exile let me catch up on a lot of things... like reading my lighting books cover-to-cover, finishing editing on all my recent model shoots, and finally getting my film from San Francisco developed. This is one from the Musee Mechanique in Fisherman's Wharf.

Sidenote: it turns out that carrying around an old film camera works on guys in much the same way that carrying around a puppy works on girls. I can't tell you how many complete strangers came up to me on the street to say hello and start a conversation. Maybe people are just friendlier on the west coast?

i shot a lot of film in ireland. i'm pretty terrible at it (spoiled by the digital age and the wonders of automatic settings.) but as frustrating as it is, there's something nice about the challenge. feeling like a beginner. struggling. a sentiment echoed above.

(and on the plus side, my mistakes are far more interesting.)
