It's not quite the dead of winter here and there's little evidence we'll ever get there. Birds love this palm outside my bedroom window, and I can tell early on that the day will be lovely when I can hear them chirping happily from the fronds.

I decided to play around with this shot in Photoshop with what little knowledge I have about how it actually works. Trial and error -- heavy on the error -- is how I've learned what I know so far. I have a book that explains the basics, but I figured I should actually learn more about how to take good photographs before learning how to edit them. All in all, it's a pleasant way to waste a tremendous amount of time on a Sunday morning when nothing special is going on.

I could go outside and actually enjoy the weather, but it's always like this here.

Honest.

This is my first shot for the 365 project: One shot a day for 365 days.

After a lazy day, my husband and I decided to go down to the beach for a walk. I took nearly 100 shots and as much as I can say that none of them comes close to the show of lights we were treated to, this should give some kind of an idea.
