Ischgl, western Austria is a famous alpine village. Lying around 1400m, it is connected to a even higher network of ski slopes still covered with snow in the late of April. I came there for the closure season and I will intend to share with you some of the typical times from this amazing place. There will green alps, snow slopes and obviously parties!

We have squared this funny way and back in a day from Calais to Dover in the day. Probably the two most exquisite cities of both France and UK ;)

This ice wall is the beginning of one of the paths which lead to the nearby Mont-Blanc summit.
It is a mountainside of the Mont du Tacul.

You may understand why you can feel so humble when you get up there!

These layered ice heaps are called séracs. According to our guide Raymond, they have high probability of collapsing in this zone. The thing is you never really know when...

I have been several times on mountains tops. But rarely at that high (~3800). You hear so many times people telling that here is a completely different world. You don't really get what it really means until you visit it.
First it's really huge. Unfortunately, you don't see people on this picture. But if you look in full size, you will see footsteps on the crest on the left part of the picture.

The altitude create really hard weather conditions. When snow or ice melt, water runs between stones, when it goes bellow zero, it becomes ice again with wider volume and strikes rocks. They explode little by little. This is why they have this unfriendly jagged aspect: "Mordor" as geek call it :)

Raymond is a sharp old schooll guide. He knows the valley like his pockets.
It is normal when you hike to the tops, that you have to get early. I mean by early, like 4AM, even earlier sometimes...
Here, we were walking for alreay 3 hours and were joined by the sun who started rising from behind the crests. The top of our climb was about 3600m.

My friends, bound alond the same rope, are admiring the view ontop of a crest at 3600m.
Under there feet, along both sides of this snow heap, they can see far...
