Promise of the Setting Sun

A few hours ago the sun was setting in the sky of Saket in Delhi and I took this simple picture with my new camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ200).
From the terrace where I was standing I could listen to the call to adhan (prayer) from the muezzin of a mosque nearby.
The sun couldn’t be more oriental and in some ways it became full of promise for someone who was sharing this moment with me and is expecting some good news in a few hours...

Pani Da Rang

This is a view of Shitala Ghat along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
This is where stands an old temple known as Badi Mandir (the oldest) dedicated to Shitala, the goddess of smallpox.
This ghat has also stones remembering a few Satis, those widows who were burnt alive on the pyre of their husbands.
Since the ancient times this beautiful ghat keeps the tears of a few people which are reflecting in the color of water...

Finding Happiness

I met this lady at Dasaswarneth ghat along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
It was early in the morning after dawn.
She came from far with a group of other ladies in order to worship.
They didn't speak Hindi nor English and I couldn't understand their South Indian language but they were happy and it was contagious.
After bathing in the holy waters they were drying their hair, and spreading some tumeric on the skin.
They allowed me to take a few pictures and we had a great time all together...

This man was among a group of homeless people staying nearby Jama Masjid in Old Delhi.
Their faces could easily show that life was not easy for them but they were carrying a kind of grace and deep happiness...
It was nice to spend a moment with them, I was feeling “good...very good”, certainly because like this man they were free souls...

I met this man nearby Jama Masjid in Old Delhi.
He was homeless and his life seemed to be tough however there was an amazing happiness in his eyes as if he had reached what he was seeking for since a long time...

This is a portrait of our carpenter’s apprentice in Varanasi (Benaras) who makes our booths and most of the furnitures of the Red Halo shops and corners.
This young man has gold in his fingers.
He is always smiling and brings out happiness so I can’t blame him for working so early in front of my bedroom windows...;)

This is a dhobi wallah (laundry worker) who washes laundry in the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
All day long he keeps on beating each piece clean and dry them under the sun...

Those men where sitting under a big umbrella in front of the Vishnu Temple which is at Manikarnika ghat along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
They seemed to be good friends and they responded my jokes quite easily...
