Reverse: none other than RPPC printed: "Carte Postale, Adresse", so this picture might be taken in France.

Uniforms: dark blue (except off-white labour trousers).

Corporals from the Königlich Sächsiches Reserve Infanterie Regiment 106, posing with what seems to be a mirror which was probably loaned from the house with the eyes in the background.
Thanks to Xiphophilos: 11. Korporalschaft (see note).

In 1914: 24th Reserve Infantry Division.
April 1915: 123rd Infantry Division.
Most of these Saxons were recruited from Glauchen, Wurzen and Borna.

Officers, NCO's and men from the 20th Bavarian Field Artillery Regiment, 9th Battery.

From 1915 till 1918: 10th Artillery Brigade. 10 Königlich Bayerische Infanterie Division.
This Division was disbanded on the 2th August 1918 due to heavy losses.

This picture was mailed on the 28th August 1918 (date postmark).
Place: unidentified. The Division was last placed West of Le Cateau (Westfront, France), but there is what seems to be some Gothic lettering on the front of the house so by this time they were maybe back in Germany again.

Reverse: adressed to a Fräulein Lina Weisz who lived in Waldsassen (Bavaria)..

French soldiers from Infantry Regiment 10 (mostly), one Zouave and what appears to be one Pilot, showing off the style of uniform(s) which were in use during the year 1915, before it was gradually replaced by the famous "Horizon Bleu" style uniforms.

Uniforms: mostly dark blue. Trousers: red or dark blue. The Zouave is wearing the typical Colonial-styled uniform.

Date: 1915
Place (most probably): sector Saint Mihiel or sector Wöevre (Lorraine).

Men of the 42nd Territorial Infantry Regiment (42e R.I.T.) with looks in their eyes as if they survived a week long of heavy German bombardments.

"Somewhere" on the Westfront 1916. Battle honors: in 1916: Verdun.

From 1914 to 1918 the 42 R.I.T. was placed into the 56th Infantry Division (in 1918: 126 D.I.)

Uniforms: a various mix of old and newer "horizon bleu" equipment, exept outer right who still wears what appears the traditional red trousers.

A French soldier. Possibly from a transport or a Colonial unit. I would not have placed this picture, if it was not for the insignia on his left lower sleeve. I have not seen anything like it before.

With képi's neatly lined up, young Chasseurs from Chasseur Battalion 9 pose for the camera just before the outbreak of the Great War. When we look at the battles in which this Battalion participated, one cannot but wonder which one(s), if any, of these Chasseurs answered the roll-call in November 1918.

When Dutchie1953 was a young boy, he had several heroes. One of them was the pilot Biggles (James Bigglesworth). His adventures were written down by "Captain" W.E. Johns.
This is the Dutch "Prisma Juniores" edition, published in 1959.
Dutch translated as: "Biggles als spion" ("Biggles as a spy").
Book cover artwork was done by: R. van Giffen.

When Dutchie1953 was a young boy, he had several heroes. One of them was the Australian pilot "Lofty" Pym. A Short Sunderland pilot during the early years of WW-II. His adventures were written down by the Australian writer Ivan Southall.
