I had some fun creating a new filter for these shots; let me know what you think of it.

And there's mount Mount Umunhum in my shot again.

My day shooting in downtown San Jose was terrible. I witnessed some violent racial exchanges of words and there was a lot of bad blood going around for some reason, odd stuff. I didn't really want to deal with it so I left after an hour feeling pretty defeated. After a nap, I returned to the Almaden countryside and climbed some mountains. I don't like giving up when I have a bad day shooting. I never know when my next great shot is coming up and though it's hard, I am able to often can collect myself and enter the right state of mind to shoot. Nature photography is sanctuary from the high pace and tensions of urban photography, though some days I crave that challenge. This was definitely a day for nature, even though I was only able to catch the light leaving.

This hill was really steep, slippery and pretty dangerous. I was very careful about my footing and was able to make it down alright though. I think this shot was worth the effort.

There was a lot of mist blowing on myself and my camera but the weathersealing held up terrifically! The camera was completely soaked but there were no problems besides having to constantly wipe the rain from the lens.

In other news, every Saturday I'm looking through google maps and finding a new place to shoot at in the Northern California area. There's a lot of great relatively unexplored territory here. I'm all up for suggestions too if you have any!
