Decidious broad leaf forrest in the south of Scandinavia can get rather lush and jungle like. The winter will rather soon put an end to all such illusions.

The ferry, going to Gotland, is arriving to Oskarshamn, catching the last rays of the setting sun. The crossing takes three hours.

I have been to Gotland, visiting my father. A travel across Sweden, from west to east. I went down to the beach one evening to make som pictures of the setting sun, this was as good as it got. Some minutes after, the sun totally disappeared in the approaching clouds, bringing rain and wind after some days of nice weather.

I have been revisiting the black alder forest. It's the first time I have been here in the spring but I think it's better looking a wet autumn day. The mosses and lichens comes to live in the rain.

Adjacent to the Botanical garden here in Gothenburg there are a large piece of nature thats been manipulated a bit, in that it's turned into an arboretum. So while walking around in the wood you are suddenly faced with signs telling you that the trees you are looking at are from China. It's quite entertaining.

These particular ones are, I think, normal Swedish trees. There was at least no signs nearby.

We are having some beautiful autumn days here in the south of Scandinavia. Foggy mornings, but the sun breaks trough around noon, creating a golden haze, 20° C and no wind.

This is a photo from the botanical garden here in Gothenburg.

It's a very flat and open landscape. Now It's also littered with wind turbines, a real mass of them. I did avoid them, turning up on the photos.

On my way to the east coast and the ferry to Gotland, i stopped at Vetlanda, a small town about halfways. There I visited a small natural reserve called - Illharjen. Here the river Emån floats through a flat and stony part of land, branching out all over the place and creating a very wet and lush forest.

The mallards are probably having their best time of the year right now. They are done with most of the propagation part. Everything is quiet and calm, it's still warm and there's lots of foodstuff.

Edit I have replaced the privious version of this photo with one with a horizontal lining more to my liking.

In my urban wood there's a small castle, containing offices and resently sold for 60 million SEK. I think it feels a bit declassed and is longing for the days when it was home to one of the wealthiest families in Gothenburg.

Old industries along the Mölndal-river. Mölndal is a city that has growned together with Gothenburg. These streams was once one of the sources to the industrial revolution in Sweden. Now the buildings contain a museum and offices.
