Ananthapuri Lake Temple

The only lake templeof Kerala is having it's origin runs back to the 9th century, situated in Kasargod Dist, Kerala, India.
Sree Padmanabha (Lord Vishnu, The Preserver) seated on the serpent god Adisesha is the presiding deity here. The moolasthanam (original seat) of the deity is said to be the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple at Thiruvananthapuram, where he reclines on the serpent god.
The temple is situated in the middle of the lake and the water level remains unchaged regrdless of climate changes.
The special atraction of the lake is the lone Crocodile staying in the lake. Babia, is said to be the local guardian and messenger of the temple. Temple authorities claim that the crocodile does not harm anyone, not even the fish in the lake. "Babia is a total vegetarian and is fed daily after the noon worship conducted at the temple, it is given the prasads offered by the devotees and gruel which is prepared extra for Babia is fed like an elephant by putting to its mouth."

The temple was renovated recently and is open to all regadless of cast and creed.

A Cicada is an insect of the order Hemiptera, suborder Auchenorrhyncha, in the superfamily Cicadoidea, with large eyes wide apart on the head and usually transparent, well-veined wings. There are about 2,500 species of cicada around the world, and many remain unclassified. Cicadas live in temperate to tropical climates where they are among the most widely recognized of all insects, mainly due to their large size and remarkable acoustic talents. Cicadas are sometimes colloquially called "locusts", although they are unrelated to true locusts, which are a kind of grasshopper. Cicadas are related to leafhoppers and spittlebugs., they also are known as "dry flies" because of the dry shell that they leave behind.

Spoted this during my recent trip to Kudremukh National Park in the Western Ghats. Kallima are among butterfly species that could imitate dead leaves for protection and could even settle with the
dried leaves to make the disguise more effective. They could assume the shape of a leaf, midrib, fungi spots, leaf stalk and varying decaying colours and markings on the under-wings. They even perfectly appear to be leaves attached to the branch
